Any body heard of NFS Carbon? It's suposed to be a really cool drift down the mountain roads based game.

Some feedback on this would be nice.

Best source of news on NFS Carbon would be @ www.nfsunlimited.net
Check out all the video clips they've got available/linked to. I'm so itching to play this.

Yes. Opera is free. It has been free since version 8 (since Oct 05 as far as I can remember).

    Firefox is better imho ;)

As to NFS - EA made MW more arcade than U2. I personally didn't like that (dunno about you guys). They dropped fine tuning of the car and the game went from being difficult to play with the racing wheel to simply impossible (racing wheel does not work properly in the game).

I hope in Carbon they'll bring some of that stuff back.

I like Opera - it has some nice features to it and I like its multiple window interface better than Firefox's, but I still like Firefox for its simplicity (Opera's pretty simple too though). Opera used to cost money, but they made it free last year I think.

let's not make this into a browser war thread. Back to NFS...

NFS games have always been arcade. I own and have played every single NFS game (for the PC) and have loved every new game better than the previous. The focus for MW was the police chases, which IMO was executed extremely well. The focus for Underground 1 and 2 were the tuning of the cars and adding bling-bling. So, you can't really compare the 2 games based on that. As to it being more difficult to play using a racing wheel, I've no comments on that as I've always enjoyed NFS games with just my keyboard.

One of the few things I'm looking forward to in NFS:C is the auto-sculping, drifting and the canyon racing. Truthfully, even if all the new stuff weren't present, I'd still buy and play it just because it's a NFS game. As I've already mentioned, I'm a huge fan

Carbon seems to take a much better approach to drift racing than the previous attempts in Underground 1 and 2 did. Snaking around during the straights was a stupid way to earn points.

They took the idea for the Canyon Race from Initial D with the whole race uphill once, downhill once, one lead car, one follow car. Just too bad that they make you be the follow car both ways (which is kinda lame, IMO). Hopefully they rectify this "problem" by allowing a drift race to consist of both leading and following.

The auto-sculpt feature is also looking promising; some of those wings in Underground and Most Wanted looked very awkward on several vehicles. The type of race I'm hoping that plays out well is the team aspect. Having a "scout" to look for shortcuts for you seems kinda shady though... I mean what if a member of the other team is between him and your scout? Gets rid of the whole point of a shortcut, no?

Yeah. The influence of Initial D is insurmountable. It started off U2 with the inclusion of the the eight-six in the car line-up. Now with Carbon, and the idea of canyon racing and drifting all in one package, it'll be almost a dream come true for fans of Initial D.

Now, if only they include the favs from the show... the 86, Sil-eighty, FD, etc. Tis good that the Evo is already confirmed... I know it's what I'd drive in the game and IRL (if I can ever afford one) :D. I guess we'll know when they start releasing official info about cars in the game next week.

i used to be a huge NFS fan but after the porsche series i dropped out. i'm not used to all the in city racing. plus, THERE'S NO DAMAGE SYSTEM. i hate watching cars ram into each other and nothing happens. i wish they add in the damage system.

Just to remember you guys, there was a game for PC called NFS: Porsche Unleashed / Porsche 2000. And I think that game was the only one who had a more simulative aproach, you had to repair the damage of you car in different aspects, and the handling was not arcade, if I remember.

I still have it, and I enjoy driving all the Porsches there!

Porsche Unleashed IMHO was ansd still is the most skill challenging of all the NFS games. I have had it for nearly 4 yrs now and I have not beaten it yet. I much prefer U 1&2 and MS. I like the idea of using a variety of everday cars and exotic cars. I think always having the spotlight on the expensive exotics is wrong since with the same money it takes to buy a stock exotic you can have a customed everydaycar that can perform just as well if not better than the exotic.

As for NFS C, I can't wait to get it. Canyon races and drifting have always been a favorite of mine. I have been sliding car throught the turns ever since NFSHP.

looks exciting but imho, none of the nfs games are ever worth the money when the first come out. so i always wait until the next one is about to come out and the previous game's price plummets.

I usually wait a couple of months after it comes out to buy it. This usually is a sufficent amount of time to get the price between $20 and $30. They usually cost as much as $60 when they first come out.

Carbon looks more appealing to me than any of the Underground/Most Wanted ilk. I lost interest in the Need for Speed franchise after Porsche Unleashed, which is IMO, by far the best of the lot.

BTW, friends don't let friends watch Initial D. :p

i think the original hot pursuit was the best. It was the game that really got me hooked on nfs not to mention it was the first game in the series to introduce cops. good stuff =p

NFSHP was pretty good but NFSHP2 had superior graphics. Only MW can compare graphics wise.

lol. Grand Theft Auto, its more of an RPG with many aspects from other types of games mixed in...but it sure has cops. Considered immoral by some but hilarious by others.
