Hi, I bought Hot Pursuit last weekend, but it's running like garbage on my machine. I have a hd5850 and a i5 450m yet I'm barely able to stay at 40fps at 1680x1050. I doing 50-60 fps when the race start but then the framerate drops in to low 20fps making the game completely unplayable... Can anyone help me?

Try going to task manager and set the affinity of the game process to 1 thread, then back to 4 threads. It helped a little bit.
Also, the game is not optimized well and seems to be CPU dependant (~50-70% GPU usage most of the time). When I OC'ed my CPU to 3.1GHz it ran better, about 40-60 FPS constantly, mostly above 50 though. However, the game is just not optimized that well. -

NFS Hot Pursuit is a Cpu hog console port that barely utilizes the GPU.
Casual frame drops make the game unplayable on many PCs including mine

Kingpinzero ROUND ONE,FIGHT! You Win!
Im getting an average of 50fps (with 61fps when driving with no AI controlled opponents, stable) only if i use SLI.
but thats not all; it runs better under XP for some reason regarding the SLI scaling performance, maxing out every setting.
In 7 or Vista the problem is with gpu usage and with the game. It runs crap, it still runs crap. The only way on my laptop to play it proprely is to run it under XP for enjoying it alot. -
That's weird, I play with 60 fps @ 1080p all the time (I guess vSync is on all the time, no possibility to change it)
Did you install the all the patches? -
I play NFS on my XPS M1730 with just a single 8800m GTX since in SLI I get some stuttering and have 50-60 fps and down to 40 fps when the game loads in new areas for a second or two.
However I do have my X9000 CPU at 3.8GHz too, but the game should run better than that for you. Even in Win 7 I have these framerates with a single 8800m GTX GPU. -

Lot depends on how you tweak your system. Chipset drivers play an important role in overall performance of the GPU´s. Now NFS is quite CPU dependant. However a mobile Core I7 coupled with a good GPU should have no problem running the game.
Now my camera only captures 30 fps, however here´s a clip of how it runs on my XPS M1730:

....I disabled everything and I'm still only getting a maximum of 40fps... What the heck???

Anyway, i had a desktop before with a intel 9400 Qcore and GTX480, and my laptop with i7 740 and GTX460 runs games like JC2, silent hunter5,metro 2033 and crysis etc much better, but the d amn hot pursuit... -
Hmm the framerate drops you speak of is probably just the game streaming in a new area you drive through. But those "spikes" when the game loads in new areas don´t last long, only a few seconds then the framerate is up to normal again. Is this your case?

Reinstalling the OS should did the trick for a couple of people who had similar problems but it's not a nice way...
With your hardware the game should run perfectly on 1080p... -
This could be a very good game, like Burnout Paradise if it really had a PC version. But unfortunately it's potential is totally wasted by poor PC implementation.
To the above poster - I have dual boot system with Vista and fresh Win 7 installation on SSD - runs like crap on both, worse on Win 7. I don't have any problems with other games.
