    NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600
    2 GB Ram (2 1 GB Sticks of DDR-667)
    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T7400 (2.16GHz)

I'm thinking about buying a sony vaio with this information, how would it hold up to games like Half-Life 2 and Oblivion?

It'll run HL2 perfectly, max everything. Oblivion you'll have to turn down the settings a bit, probably mediumish.

Half-life 2 will run with pretty much everything maxed out. Oblivion will run sufficiently at mid-high settings.

See this thread . Also see the sticky ;)

As you can see, pretty good. As for Oblivion, I think medium, maybe medium-high, although I haven't bothered to test this out yet 2 weeks after buying the game on my equivalent X1600

you'll have to set texture size in Oblivion to medium, i'm afraid, due to the Go7600's 128Mb of VRAM, everything else can be mid-high

he doesnt specify whether the 7600 is 128MB, 256 or 512 so would a 256MB be able to play it with texture above medium?

Yes, with 256 MB, he should be okay playing at medium to high. A 512 MB version adds no real performance boost, so if the option for that graphics card is there, then ignore it. Also, make sure that the card has a 128-bit memory interface, as some of the Go 7600 use a smaller 64-bit bus, which can limit performance.

I agree with those comments, I got 7600 Geforce, 1G RAM, Core Duo, oblivion RUNS fabulous in medium settings... when i tried to max out everying, framerate starts to skip.... but the graphic is so gorgerous to begin with, IMO, it doesn't hurt a bit of how great it looks overall. The fighting is 100x better than morrowind
