Since installing this driver on my machine with Windows 7, there is a little app called NVIDIA GPU Activity which has an icon in the system tray. Displaying the icon in the tray is optional, but, even if you uncheck the option, it pops up constantly and does not go away until you recheck and uncheck the option again. It is just an annoying little bug, but I wonder if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or has found a way to stop the icon from popping up at random.

Uninstall the Nvidia Update from the programs.

You can always reinstall the drivers, after unistall the previous one obviously, and choose a custom installation with no Nvidia update, like I did.

It's not called Nvidia Update, it's called Nvidia GPU Activity. Is that a part of Nvidia Update?

ah, probably a leftover from Optimus :D

EDIT: to the above poster... seriously... "f'ing annoying" @!? You can also hide the icon in windows 7 (though it would bring up the arrow that some people seem to hate :p) But I hid my taskbar alltogether :( So...... my biggest annoyance is BatteryBar Pro... sooo...... now that I am off topic :p

i'm not talking about a taskbar icon hidden or unhidden. i'm talking about a plain day rectangle in the upper left corner to let you know your gpu is busy. duh. can i get a cpu and ram notification now?

I believe this is a bug with the current release of their drivers. The Display GPU Activity indicator option is ignored an the icon is shown regardless of the setting. I am experiencing the same issue.

be glad you don't. it's an option which shouldn't even be an option that displays useless info frequently in the corner of your screen.

This must be related to your configuration then. Optimus related maybe?

I have installed 275.33 atleast 3 times, testing all the drivers (260, 270, 275) when OC'ing before, NEVER got this icon.

I have 275.33 installed right now without the Nvidia update and 3DVision drivers, ..and I don't have this icon you guys mention. Got the 275 straight from NVidia site.

If you have the Nvidia Update installed, you will have the green nvidia settings icon in the taskbar.

Optimus driver might have it's own taskbar icon.

Nvidia settings icon is unrelated to Nvidia Update.

No, it is. I don't have it and I didn't install the Nvidia Update. I had the icon when I installed the Nvidia update.

I'm guessing the icon is ION/Optimus related.
    I have the same issue.
