    Guys,

I sincerely suggest that you do not update your Nvidia drivers to the latest 320.18. I tell you, It's a complete wreck, full of texture bugs, artifacts and a noticeable drop in FPS.
I own an M17x R4 3D enabled, I have been facing an additional new level of problems. Whenever I close and open the lid, the screen goes blank completely and either of the two happens

    1. System crashes with beep sound for every minute or so. (Blue Screen).
    2. Display comes back after some time with the error message "Display Nvidia Windows Kernel mode driver has stopped responding and has recovered successfully".

It's completely frustrating. Hope Nvidia fixes it soon. So, heads up!

    Stay with the 314 version.

I'm still with the 314 WHQL. The last couple of betas and this new WHQL have not been working out well with my 640m or my 690.

one issue i had with these is during gaming in tomb raider or Metro Last Light. My m17xr4 would completely shut off. I had to revert back to older drivers and boom all fixed. Dont know how they went so wrong with these.

Is the problem just with the mobile graphics, do you think?
As far as I have heard from others, screens with 3D enabled are facing similar problems.

I had a major issue recently and had to restore it to the factory image. Since, I performed a clean installation with this new driver the factory version is lost and I am stranded now.
I am left with no other option than to restore it back again to the factory setting. Argh!

Confirmed not happening on my laptop.

Must be an incompatibility specific to your manufacturers.

Samsung (at least, this particular model I'm using) is fine.

I gues you just gotta wait until NVIDIA get their act together.

Yep, seems to be machine (manufacturer?) specific from what I can tell.... have gamed quite a bit the past couple days and worked all morning with Office and no issues to report. Performance and even some overclocking have checked out nicely.

Hopefully they get it sorted quickly for those affected!

Might be the incompatibility with manufacturers. Known issues with 3D enabled screens and certain mobile graphics.
Yes, hopefully they sort it out..
Alienware M17x R4 users are facing the difficulty as far as I know. I had no other option than to revert it back.!

Let's all share our feedback in the link MrDJ has provided. It will then be all in one place. Might help others.

I had an issue last night where I was trying to start a game of Shogun II and it kept crashing the game. I had to use Fn-F7 to disable integrated graphics before the game would start. It appeared that it would not automatically switch between the integrated and discrete graphics.

Mine worked fine as well and if I didn't need the integrated graphics I would still use it. The fault is confirmed to be the drivers because I reinstalled 314.22 and the problem went away. It is a bit sad that they caused so many other problems. Maybe NVidia employed some of the software people from AMD :D

Nvidia officially says that the problem *may* be caused on systems which are either factory overclocked or manually overclocked.

My guess is that since M17 R4 increases it clock when switching over from 2D to 3D, that may be causing the problem. I'm just saying.
It's atleast nice to hear replies from NVIDIA. It's providing a survey which will be used to rectify the problem. Here is the link.

I hope it gets sorted out fast!
