you should expect a 3dmark11 score of about 4500 stock. Should be a step above a 670MX. With overclocking, this thing can go much higher.

4500 stock is a bit optimistic, more like what Karamazovmm said, and 4500+ OCed. ^^

I'm betting this thing can break 3DM11 5000 without much problem, as long as we can get some great vBIOS mods. :)

If someone that have any laptop with a GTX 765m could post a video of it playing some games like BF3 on ultra and high, Skyrim I would appreciate. I wanna buy a Sager NP 7352 that comes with a GTX 765m but I didn't find any videos of some real footage using the GTX 765m.

Somewhat off topic but can anyone explain the vBios thingy? It's 'just' a modded bios for lappies with locked features, right?

Modded vBios allows you to tweak stuff like voltage so you can clock higher/lower than you normally can.

CPU just inflating the score, looks like 4500-4600 GPU score is as much as we will get without someone hooking us up with a vbios mod.

4,000-4,500 is a pretty good score for the gtx 765m considering the gt 650 and gtx 660 of last year was scoring between 2,300-2,600 and the Fermi gtx 670m scoring around 3,000-3,200 and the 670mx kepler scoring 3,400-3,500.

I'm not very impressed considering how everyone was saying this would be faster than 750M SLI and such. Even my overclocked 650M SLI beats this.

I'd rather keep my single 765M over SLI 750M, so I don't have to pray to "Gods of Nvidia" for SLI supporting/scaling drivers, without micro-stuttering in games ;).

You can get a Y500 with 750M SLI for that much. Only difference is Ivy Bridge instead of Haswell i7. People are getting these deals by haggling over the phone or through the Lenovo Outlet. I've seen even crazier deals, such as fully decked-out 650M SLI SKU for $400, brand new.

You can't use that, if it's special deals that not most everyone can get. That's like telling everyone you bought a car for $10k that most people usually can't get for any less than $12k. That's great if people can find those deals but regular pricing even with coupons and sales puts the Y510p at about $1200-$1300 with SLI kit and 1080p screen. That's the cost of a laptop with 770m is my point.

Anyhow this isn't a thread to debate SLI vs 765m, this thread is meant for 765m benchmarks.

Fair enough. I just thought it interesting how many people on other threads assume 765M is faster than 750M SLI but now we have numbers which prove that isn't the case.

The point before wasn't that the 765m is faster than 750m SLI just that they will be similar in performance and 765m won't have the headaches of SLI, along with worse power consumption, noise, heat, weight, battery life, and cost (typically) associated with an SLI system.

The other point is that running two lower / mid grade GPU's in SLI doesn't make much sense when you can buy a single GPU that will meet or exceed the performance of the SLI system and without the factors I just listed. SLI makes most sense when you can't buy a single card to perform as well when you have two in SLI, and at this point in time, this means SLI 770m or 780m.

I don't disagree the technology is a great idea and wish more laptop makers would implement slick ideas like this. I'd love if the bay could have a swappable battery or even an extra fan for additional cooling. I'm all for giving customer's the choice of something when with laptops we're usually forced with what they offer in the laptop and nothing more. I actually like how the Y500/400/510/410 look just I think they should have gone the extra step to add a more powerful GPU to begin with.

765m is looking to be able to run 4600-4700 3DMark 11 with software overclock (i.e. nVidiaInspector). With some community help, we will likely have an undervolt and overvolt mod that will let it run very cool or run very fast. With my 650m in my Clevo W110ER I can undervolt AND overclock and get 3DMark 11 3000+ while remaining < 70C in an 11" laptop which is quite a feat IMHO.

Actually, the Lenovo does have many Ultrabay accessories available besides the GPU, including second hard drive, DVD, Blu-ray, and extra fan. Apparently the extra fan doesn't do anything at all as far as temperatures are concerned.

I think the biggest reason they can't put a more powerful GPU to begin with is the inadequate cooling system. The CPU and main GPU share one fan and copper heatpipe and are located like inches away from each other, which is pretty much unacceptable in a gaming notebook. The fan isn't even that big or powerful. We've seen this same cooling design and subsequent thermal issues in several generations of MSI G-series chassis so you know it doesn't work well.

The GPU runs pretty cool due to being Kepler but the CPU overheats like mad if you run it at full speed with ThrottleStop. Easily 20C-30C higher than the GPU. Since they're so close to one another and share the same cooling system, if you put in a hotter, more powerful GPU, the CPU will likewise get hotter too, which in this case means it'll start doing thermal shutdowns.

SLI does not really make sense anyway for mid-range gpu's. SLI or dual gpu set up is meant for max performance and max benchmarking scores at the highest resolutions and settings possible and if it ain't dual 680m or 780m then Fuggeaboutit in Italian Mafioso accent. We also understand that octiceps is trying to defend and justify his purchase since he has the ideapad with the dual gt 650m and that is fine and can't blame him.

But for me, i'd rather have a solid and stable single gtx card that runs with optimus ( unless i'm going 17-18" SLI set up with the fastest cards available if I need it which I don't) to avoid the bugs and the micro stuttering that comes with it and i'd rather have the gtx 760m-gtx 765m on a much premium product like the Clevo 13" or the AW 14 or the Razer and gladly pay the xtra for the better warranty, magnesium alloy/aluminum, better touchpad, premium audio etc...

SLI doesn't make sense for mid-range gpu's? lol you don't know what you are talking about. It makes a lot of sense to me, I bought a Y500 for 10k euros, other choices were laptops with gt675m but those costed 200-300€ more, with the Y500 I get the same performance as those for a lot less money, If you check the game benchmarks on notebookcheck you will see that the gt650m sli even performs better than the newer gt765m on most games @1080p. The new gt750m sli is about 30% better than the previous gt650m sli. Where I live a laptop with gt750m sli costs the same as the one with gt765m, if I like gaming which one do you think it's the better choice?
And no, there are no issues or bugs other than maybe micro stuttering but that's not really a problem because who plays games at ~25fps?

Just letting people know that with sli you can get better game performance for the same price

Micro stutter doesn't have anything to do with what FPS you're running. Microstutter can end up making 60fps feel like 10fps.

Bottom line is you can buy a laptops with a 770m for ~ same price as a Y510p with SLI 750m. I don't begrudge anyone for buying the Lenovo, and especially if they got a great deal on it, but for 99.9% of consumers that can't get those great bargains, there are better options for the money.

But why are we still debating this? This thread is for 765m not 750m SLI > 765m.

Then that's something I have not noticed, I play mostly Sc2, gta4, grid 2 and skyrim at almost maxed settings and the game play is as smooth as butter.

Oh and I'm not trying to start a discussion, your comment was just so inaccurate, I was just trying to get you informed, sorry for off topic, I'm out peace.

It is improved absolutely, but the issues do exist. Plus newer cards and games sometimes you have to wait a month or two for a profile so you can actually play the game. Many times the profile will only allow use of a single card.

The 750m sli is in my opinion a big failure just like the 8600m gt sli from that lame Toshiba laptop back in the day.

No but I have tested several multi gpu systems and all had micro stutter. Once you see micro stutter you will never be able to unsee it. So just ble glad that u don't see, care or notice it. It is however there Always!

I do however guess that everything else with that laptop is great. It's just the fact that dual gpus sucks bo matter what :/

Wish it was not that way

The lower the frame rate the worse it gets with micro stutter. There is also the input lag it generates.

It's not that I don't see microstutter. I'm actually quite sensitive to this sort of thing and start seeing it around 40 FPS, whereas others may only start seeing it at much lower frame rates. But I play all my games with at least 60 FPS and overclock and/or turn down video settings if necessary to hit that number.

Stutter and frame pacing problems (Frame Rating) are not major problems with SLI like they are with CrossFire. So you're at least assured of actually seeing 60 FPS or close to it if that's what the FPS counter is showing. Unlike situations where the game engine is calling for 60 frames but in the end only 20 get outputted on the display, which is very common with CrossFire setups because AMD haven't fully incorporated the requisite frame metering technology into their drivers yet, and they don't have a hardware solution like Nvidia has had since Fermi.
