    Hello Folks,

I have a Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop with an ATI Graphics Mobility 64MB graphics Card. I am thinking about switching the card out for NVIDIA FX Go 5700. The card is here at:

    http://www.nvidia.com/page/fx_mobile.html

Does anyone have any opinions on the NVIDA card? Thanks, Bill

Normally you are correct but Dell verified that I can do it. I made a mistake. The model number is 5200 vs. 5700. Thanks

If the 5200 is 128 MB, go for the 5200. If the 5200 is just 64 MB, go for the ATI without any doubt.

ATI 9000 is much better then the crappy FX series of nVidia.

Check the video card chart at the top of the forum. I'd take a MR9000 over the FX5200 any day. The FX series are horrible cards for the latest games.

Thanks folks. I have posted on other forums and the other posters concur. I have seen a few, "slight increase" posts but that is it. The only thing that still makes me consider the 5200 is the fact that it supports DirectX 9 and ATI only supports Directx 8.

The GeForce FX series never fully supported DX9, they were best at DX8.1. An FX card will default to a DX8.1 shader path in Half-Life 2 and games based on the Source engine; DX9 is basically unplayable.
