Out of these two integrated cards, which one is the most capable for games? And how much can they cope with?
    Thanks.

they wont be able to cope with much, probably none of the latest FPS games for sure but the nvidia is probably more capable but still not by much

Yeah, I don't expect much at all. My current PC is using Windows 98se, AMD Athlon 1.8ghz, 256mb RAM and a nVidia GeForce FX5200  . So as long as I can play some of the games that I occasionally play on that, then I'm happy (like Warcraft 3, Neverwinter Nights, Call of Duty, Max Payne and MS Flight Sim 04). It would be nice if it could play games like Far Cry and Warhammer 40k though (games that are around 3 years old) :p .

I don't believe there are many (if any at all) reliable benchmarks of the 7150 out. However, for the games you want to play, either of these solutions should be fine, as long as you play at low settings and resolution.

It's like comparing a 1ghz CPU to a 3ghz cpu in the same family.

    http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4156

The review's conclusions are somewhat confused (first he pans the system with crappy battery life but good graphics, then he proposes adding a discrete graphics card to the long battery life system to create the perfect system - apparently not understanding that this will trash the battery life).

Still, the raw data in the review represents a lot of excellent work.

well...just think of the # of ppl who actually bought the x3100 without doing their research. You can't believe how many people actually think that you can just pop the game's DVD into the computer and expect to play it maxed out as you would with an xbox...totally insane...

Most people have NO idea of how/why IGPUs are not for high-end gamings, but I think that's also partly due to the manufacturer's lack of explinations on GPUs when the customer orders a new PC...more power to Intel i guess...

    Hi.

my desktop motherboard came with an integrated GMA3100, which was disabled with an nvidia 8600GT GDDR3.

just out of interest the other day, I decided to try the GMA3100 and removed my dedicated GPU.

I installed the intel software from my motherboard disk and ran 3dmark06 demo.

And i got 276 points, I could of got more if i installed the latest drives, my system specs are in my signature.

    My nvidia 8600GT GDDR3 get 5000 points.

I thought the 3100 was directx 10 compatible, but the intel website only mentions 9.0c

    regards

    John.

Believe the GMA X3100 was considered more powerful than the Nvidia 7150M,
but because the X3100 has bad support for drivers, Nvidia 7150M is currently much better with the good support of drivers...
