    Okay i heard all the hypes about how 7900 has the BEST graphics out in gaming and smooth gaming too but to me its a "scam" they use every year whenever NVIDIA or any other company such as ATI comes out with a graphic card. But what's wrong with the 7400 Nvidia Ge Force? I dont want real high class end graphic cards right now. I just want decent enough to play nba live 2007 and splinter cell chaos theory or the old splinter cell's. But is 7400 alright? and it handle it decently?

    Thank you

    Go7400 = Banana
    Go7900 = Watermelon
    Go7900GTX= 2 Watermelons

    :)

    i think a go 7400 is good for your needs...if you plan on upgrading in about 8 months.

    A Go7600 would be best, but a Go7400 should be able to handle any game right now at halfway-decent settings. Check the requirements for the game to see if you can play it, chances are, you can.

    I finally just tested BF2 on my 7400, and it plays everything on high, dynamic light/shadows, and 1024x768 I believe. It wont go up to 1280x800, though im sure it could do it and still run smooth. I dont think people give the 7400 enough credit, it really isnt a bad card. But if your the kind of person who wants to play a game like Oblivion smooth and all high, then yeah you'll need the 7900GTX. But so far every other game ive played with my 7400 (BF2, HL2/EP1, Fable, Rise of Legends, Civ4), with the excption of oblivion, have all been played at max with smooth frames.

    Thank You Chaz and Sheff and others who helped me out. Forget Oblivion, its not my type of genre anyways. i am just gonna do minimal gaming. i am not a hardcore gamer and i dont want to be one either.

    Thank you once again

    the 7400 is a great card. But like Chaz recommened, i would try to get a 7600 since it will just last you longer. If price is an issue 7400 will do you great.

    yeah unfortunately futureshop doesnt have the hp pavilion with 7600, if they did i'd probably go with that one but 7400 sounds good to me since i am convinced by you all.

    Thank you once again
