Recently purchased an Alienware Area 51 m15x laptop and equipped it with a NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics card. So naturally i was looking for some sweet new games to play on it, and of course an old favorite came to mind, the original 'The Sims.' However before i was about to purchase it i read a few customer reviews who said that the Original Sims were not compatible with Vista (which is the operating system i have already pre-installed on my new laptop) Therefore i started to search around the internet to find out if this was true or not. After searching countless forums and topics one of the the issues i found mentioned most was that it was not the Windows operating system that was unable to support the game but instead the NVIDIA graphics card that some people were using, (i know this sound ridiculous being that the NVIDIA graphics card is at 216m and the Sims only requires a 4MB 800 x 600 16-bit DirectX 7.0-compatible video card) but none the less it is what people were saying. I was, however unable to find whether this was true or not. So therefore my question is if anyone was the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT graphics card and has played the 'original Sims while using it, while also running Windows Vista, or if anyone would be able to comment on this situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I know that most of the people here are more knowledgeable on this area than i am.

If that doesn't work, right click the program and click run as administrator. Some older programs have to be run in this fashion.

    Try the following:

1.) Right click it and select Properties, then select Compatibility tab, and run it on XP SP2 (I have the sims 2 on an XP Sp2 machines along with the pets expansion).

    if not
    2.)
