Hello guys!
Just as the tittle says, what would you go for? It is all about gaming and design.
Both will be featured by a T9600 and 4GB RAM, but the thing is; if I go for the GT 320M the RAM's will be at 1066Mhz (DDR3) but if I go for the 9650M GT the amount of RAM will still be 4GB but 800Mhz (DDR2).
The GT 320M will also be based on a nVidia Chipset, while 9650M GT will run on a Intel chipset.
Now, what would you go for? Rest of the laptop is almost indentical...
Thanks![]()

I would pick the 9650M GT, the GT 320M is a downgrade because it has less shaders than the 9650M GT and clocks.
In the ram well i think that couldn't affect you too much, but i would select the 9650M GT because in most laptops the GPU is not upgradeable, at least that it has MXM port. -
Hmmm, what about overclock? I know that 9650M can be overclocked quite high, but what about the GT 320M? How is the heat diffrance?
-
The heat in the 320M should be lower than the 9650M (40nm vs 55nm), but in my opinion this is greatly affected by the cooling system from the laptop, and more if you want to OC you should consider this too. Which laptops you have in mind? -
There is just two Asus laptops. One with 320M DDR3 and nForce chipset DDR3 RAM, other one is 9650M DDR2, DDR2 RAM. Both is going to run on T9600 as CPU and a SSD drive. I just need to choose between 320M and nForce chipset, or 9650M and Intel chipset. Agh, there is also diffrence between RAM tou..
-
In the 320M the only plus is the GDDR3 and DDR3 in ram, but it has less shaders, the 9650M is more older but it has very good performance compared to the 320M (one of the plus is the more shaders than the 320M, in the 400M series as far i know doesn't receives any improvement in this).
-
Yep, thats right. BTW we are talking about GT 320M not the 320M which is a chipset graphics card.
However, the thing is I don't really want to put money on a DDR2 laptop this days. But I'm really confused now, so I have no idea what to get. I think I must look more into it... -
How much budget do you have? So we can view other options -
There is not a limit actually. I do want a max 15.6" laptop, with Intel CPU T - or P - series CPU! And a nVidia GPU. Ah, and it must be a Asus.
It is hard to find, trust me! Asus mostly sell their laptops with Ati... -
An Asus G51JX-3D is a good option? Is the only 15.6 with Nvidia as far i know, but maybe there is a new model with the new 400M series probably.
It has Core i7 (the same 720QM from my alienware), but if you consider to change CPU is possible i suppose (except the GPU because asus uses reverse MXM). -
That one is out of marked in Norway. It says it is out-of-date ...
However, I think you miss understood my problem, it is like the CPU got to be a T or P series CPU. For example it can be a T9600 as I have in my Qosmio or a P6400. Or what ever, it just need to be P or T.
And that was a bit overkill, I do need a light laptop. I allready have my Qosmio if somebody try to rob me I can use that.. -
I find a bit difficult to find a Asus with a good (or recent Nvidia GPU) and a C2D from which you are searching, i suppose that you want to use that C2D from your Qosmio in an asus that has the same socket no?

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
is there a particular reason you want nvidia? I recommend giving up your notions about one brand being better than the other- I tend to pick based on who has the better offer, and it changes often.
-
Toshiba - No service in my country, they can't even don't have a support email adress!
Acer - Just plastic
HP - Actually they're good, but I have had 2 HP laptops wich ran pritty hot. I do not want that again.
Asus - I had a problem with the HDD, they came to my house picked up my laptop delivred it back to my door after they replaced the hardisk.
ThinkPad - Awsome, dull, I use a T61 to take notes in school. (Running on T7500, 4GB 800Mhz DDR2 RAM, SSD drive, FingerPrint Reader etc.)
I think I just must take my time and go around and look for what I want... -

have you looked at Asus G51VX? It should take a T9600 but its not light... if your going to go with a light laptop , as far as asus goes.. between 320M and 9650M GT , i'd choose the 320M.. it has DDR3 RAM>DDR2... for ppl saying 9650M can be oced a lot , yes it can but in the end , the 320M will run cooler most probably OC more... the memory speed especially... that's what's hold back 9650M... if u can DDR3 9650M , go for that.
Leopard 2
NVIDIA GeForce 9650M GT Or GT 320M ?
