I just bought a laptop on IBUYPOWER.com, and it came with the Mobility 512MB NVIDIA GeForce GO 8600GT PCI-Express 3D Vid. Now I don't know much about video cards, but I'm wondering if this will run such games as Crysis, Oblivion, Call of Duty 4. I was going to buy another one from new egg. The ASUS F3SV-X4 wich came with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS. Which one is better. Mainly I want to know about the GeForce GO 8600 GT.
My computers specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 (2.2ghz)
2gb of Mushkin memory
160gb hard drive (5400rpm)

The GT is significantly better, by a noticeable difference, and yes, your computer will run all of those games. Lowest setting around medium, highest at whatever you care to afford to your lowering fps.
-
What Solidus said, the 8600M GT is a much better card, and will run COD4 maxed without any AA, Oblivion almost maxed, and Crysis on medium - at 1280x800 anyway.
-
That's good news, I'm not sure what the fps is, but do you have any sites I could look at. Also i'm have looked and looked for info on the GeForce Go 8600 GT and the "Go" Is what I'm not sure about. What is it?
-
I think the "GO" just tells you it's a mobility GPU, which means it goes into laptops.
You know, like "on the GO"
Also, you can OC the 8600m gt to high standards. -
The ''GO'' is not used anymore...instead a mobile GPU can be regconised by the 8600 m GT
-
Actually, NVIDIA stopped using "Go" with their modern GPUs. The mobile version of the 8600 is just referred to as the 8600M

Ok, well I got it on ibuypower.com. That is how they listed it. I geuss the're not up to date on the GPU naming.
-
And that was today 1/31/08
-
Is it a new computer? When was it manufactured?
-
I just ordered it today from I buy power.com It was the "Battalion 101 CZ-7 Ultra". In this is was listed as ( Mobility 512MB NVIDIA GeForce GO 8600GT PCI-Express 3D Video ). On the other notebook "Battalion 101 C-90S" the card on this one was (Mobility 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT PCI-Express 3D Video). So i'm kind of confused.
-
The Battalion 101 CZ-7 Ultra is a rebranded Compal IFL-90(aka Sager NP 2090) so look for some reviews etc.
The Battalion 101 C-90S is the Asus C90s-a 15.4 desktop replacement notebook(it uses desktop processors).
