No. I'm not a gamer, but I can tell you that a integrated card is not good for gaming.

DO NOT BUY THAT LAPTOP FOR GAMING!!! Get a dell vostro with 8600m gt or 7950gtx. As far as the go 6100 is concerned, you won't be able to play any pc game made after 1993 with that thing.

That's a bit of an exaggeration. Most source based games like Team Fortress 2 and Counterstrike should work well with that card. Just don't play any games released after 2004/2005, that includes City of Heroes.

I have played City of Heroes on various systems and the 6100 won't handle it very well. I'd recommend a low level dedicated video card like an ATi X2300 or Nvidia 8400M G/GS. That should run it very well.

I have the geforce 6150, and dude, you dont want anything lower, this card is for very light gaming, nothing special

think like playing games that came out in 04 or earlier, and only on the most min settings, nothing past 800*600, i can run halflife 2 pretty nice on those settings (low res, high everything else), but it doesnt really look good

if you want a gaming laptop, get a gaming laptop, dont get anything below teh *600's, so either get a 6600, 7600, or a 8600, and the 8600 is your best bet for mobility and gaming right now

It's a horrible integrated GPU.. but not much slower than a X3100 honestly. I ended up taking back a notebook with the Geforce 6100 because it was that bad.. I'd rather opt for a GMA950/X3100 if I were you. Although the way drivers are looking right now, the GMA950 currently performs better in most scenarios versus the X3100.

Nvidia6100 is the lowest you can go for todays standards.

I dont think you understood anything that was just posted, the 7000m might just be worse, the gpus are in series, 6 series, 7 series, and 8 series, look at the hundred digits to see how good the card is

simply put, 6600>7000 because it is higher up in the series

Lastly, newer cards are simply better bcos newer technology in them, 8600>7600

these are simple comparisons, please take this as a general statement, and DO NO BUY A 7000m!

    *please refer to this thread

As recomended before, go with a Vostro 1500 the 6100 won't play anything past 2004 @ playable settings or worse......they may not run @ all.

I'd recommend the Vostro 1500 as well.

On a side note, since when did this site become so much like notebookforums? Honestly, there are more terrible arguments in this thread than I've seen on NBR in a long time...

New members with high post counts...?

Brian, as it's been stated before, 6100 isn't ideal for gaming. Even if you saw a 7100 it's still terrible in performance for newer games. When you compare nVidia graphics cards look for the 2nd number after the first, e.g., 6 600 performs better than 7 150 GPU; the second number indicates better performance cards, not the first.

Good luck buying a notebook for your son!

Doomguy, with that setup, you are probably still playing ONLY Wolfenstein 3D.

But yes, Brian, the 7150/6150/7000/6100 are all not the best bet for gaming. I know HP offers some models with the 8400GS for around $900USD. This isn't the best and fastest GPU, but it's still loads better that the Integrated GPU's.

And please, Doomguy, it is EXTREMELY misinforming when you come on a board where we are trying to help, and brag about your "gaming system". How would you feel when he purchased that computer for his son, and, like we said, it won't run. Not well spent money, right?

haha... u gotta keep quiet when u dont kno the facts.

go 6100 easily runs Counterstrike Source @ 40 - 50 fps at Full.

it can play games till year 2005.

    and 2006 games also..

problem comes in 2007 games which are new gen and High definition.

So for the game u mentioned.. the card is NOT good.

    Discussion over i guess.
