How will this run games such as....Team Fortress 2 and Mass Effect for example? Owner said he has run Crysis on some lower settings (Bull?)...
Anyone had experience with it?

Very crappily to not at all.
The 7150M is an integrated card, not meant for games. -

He says it will run Crysis better than the 2600xt in the build I am offering him.
-
People say all sorts of things. Welcome to the internet.
I love lamp. -
-

So it can't run better than that card at all then, right?
-
It actually makes my blood boil that people tell such outright lies.
The 2600XT absolutely tramples the 7150, think Elephant vs Ant scenario....
Tell him that; I would love to hear what he has to say in response. -

Damn....so TF2 would be a no-go?
-
Read the GPU Guide... it will answer your questions better.

Thanks. Will read.

Like how well do you think? 1280x800 with medium settings no AA or AF or anything like that?
-
Not a chance. 800x600 all low for playable framerates.

you people love dissing that graphics card dont you
-
Calling it a graphics card is a stretch.
I keed, I keed...not really though. -
If that's dissing... than I do it all the time... -
Whoever is telling you that the 7150M is better than the other card mentioned clearly is jipping you, or has issues. -

Hi.
I had a acer aspire with an 7000m , even slower than your 7150m, You should be able to run some games at minimum setting, but i doubt anything in the last couple of years.
I ran battlefield 2142 on minimum setting and it was just about playable.
the website below will give you an idea of where an 7150m is in terms of power.

I've heard the 7000M is the same as the 7150M, just a refresh or something?
Like others said, 2 frames per second, for 2 seconds, then crash on lowest settings for everything. -

Hi.
The 7150m has a clock speed of 425mhz and the 7000m has a clockspeed of 350mhz, so it`s a little more powerful.

John. -
Lol in the end it's not designed for gaming. And like we all said, not better than the ati card.

Hi.
It beats my "Via S3 UniChrome Pro" in my old laptop it`s in the bottom of the class 6 of the website i linked for you.
I would take your 7150m over it anyday!
regards
John. -
No need to link anything for me, I USED a Via S3 UniChrome in my old desktop.
Honestly, comparing the UniChrome to the 7150M is like comparing an X3100 to an SLI 8800M GTX lol. -

Hi.
Via should have been shot for using the word PRO in that chips description

lmao agreed

GOOD CHOICE!

ive got that card and i can play nfs carbon, fear, neverwinter nights 2,
so its definetly not true that it cant play n e games you people obviously dont know what your talking about -
Not to mention they are quite a far cry (haha, that could be a pun) from Crysis and Mass Effect that the OP asked about. -
haha nice Pun.
Seriously tho, why do you HAVE to get the laptop? Just tell the guy no.
I would rate the 7150M about the same as a Etch-a-Sketch, just with a slightly higher refresh rate.
You MIGHT be able to run TF2 on DX8.1 settings. But it will also depend on your CPU. -

just some experience with the 6150, which is a slower version of the 7150 by a bit, it's doable to play older games, but as a basis, TF2 in directX8.1 at 720x480 is where I have kept it. Plays smoothly, and as a portable solution works well, but I wouldn't be happy if it was my only gaming solution. but, not as bad as many on here claim. I can bump the res higher, but I'm much more in favor of smooth framerates versus slightly better visuals and dips in performance.
All the source engined games are playable smoothly, FS2004, IL2 1946, Silent hunter3, Max Payne's, the GTA series, including SanAndreas, Flatout2, The first 3 hitmans, Trials 2 game on Steam, Trackmania, etc are all games that are totally playable and currently installed. Now before I get flamed though, don't expect high res or settings, but for on the road portable play, definately hits the spot.
just don't try anything new and demanding, and by no means am I saying that it's a good solution for a gamer that has any kind of expectations, but as a secondary portable solution works great.... Emulators run great too. just a bit of info for those curious. -
I have this chip in my notebook. Mostly use it for Quake 3 Arena (91fps) and soon UT2004. The Doom3 demo ran at about 29fps average in the claustrophobic dark bits (no shadows), and UT2004 at about 33fps at 640 x 400, with shadows set to "blobs", though Im sure I can increase that quite significantly.
I have also ran the F.E.A.R Perseus mandate demo at a 'playable' frame rate with settings pretty low.
I did however see this recently which was quite impressive (if genuine)

I'm going to hunt down a demo if possible. Really just providing info for those who, like me, already have the 7150m and cannot simply "un-buy it". -
I also have 6150 and i play tf2 on it....i have everything on low and run it on 800x640 or watever the lowest res is and i get around 50 fps on avg which is really playable. It lags a bit when there is a lot of action going on otherwise it is really playable. Other games i have tried on it are c&c tiberium wars, gta sa, warcraft3, max payne, ut2004, hl, hl2, portal, nfs underground2, css and some spiderman game by younger bro tried and it lagged a little. These are the only ones i can remember for now and these ran fine with playable fps and i didnt even have to change the res or the default vid settings. I only played with the settings for tf2.
I have an older tl-56 amd turion x2 processor and 1gb ram. So with a newer processor and more ram this card might perform even better -
Thing is though for buying a new laptop Dedicated GPUs are so cheap now that its easy to get a decent card. My build (XPS) cost £540 and that was specced up 2.0Ghz, 3Gb Ram, 256Mb 8600MGT If I was to tighten the strings and go for something like umm
1.8Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
2Gb Ram
5400RPM HDD
8400GT
You can get one for arounf £420 and im sure thats a damn sight cheaper over in the US too..
There is no need to buy something not dedicated for games etc these days if your main intention is to game.
HL2 should be able to be run ont he 7150 though just turned down a notch! -
Hey everyone,
I've also recently purchased an HP with this chip. It definitely isn't a gaming chip, not by a long shot, but for what I need it for I'm extremely happy with it. It plays Starcraft, WC3, and Counter-Strike: Source without any real issue. CS:S took a bit of tweaking, but works wonderful now.
I've also tried TF2 and World of Warcraft on it, World of Warcraft is pretty tough, it's playable, but it's not pretty to look at. TF2 is more of the same, although I haven't spent much time tweaking around with it.
For source games, check out Casey's Cal Config.
Take care. -
I had a 7000m and it was not the worse IGP that i have seen!
-
I got to mess around with a 7150 for a few days once. It wasn't the worst of the IGP's, and sure performed better than the X3100.
-
Considering CS:S now if possible, though i am planning on replacing this notebook in september (i got it for myself at christmas in a hurry for just over £500 and now feel stupid).
Just cos it said nvidia graphics...
And yeah I know I could have had the equivolent but with a dedicated card for the same cash. Anyhoo, interesting development; I just had a chat with a tech guy from HP and he said I may possibly be able to take my notebook to a service centre to fit a replacement motherboard that has a dedicated graphics slot. Possibly. If I can it would sure be cheaper than a whole new laptop. Ill keep you posted.
Oh yeah, and Cod4 runs at an amazing 4.5fps average (FRAPS) with everything on low.... -
Brief update: My full version of UT2004 arrived today and runs at 30fps avg.
The UT3 beta demo runs at 2fps. Still I got two frags in tho
Half life 2 demo ran at 14fps avg before i got bored/irritated with the game (which is ok as i was wondering weather CSS would run).
Im scrapping the new notebook idea in favour of building a £1000 gaming PC. -
Who am I kidding, Ill most likely buy one from PC world.
Options are either a 9500gs or an 8800gt equiped rig.
2.4gig Quad core (is that any better at all than a standard dual for games?)
Coming in at less than a grand too
NVIDIA GeForce Go 7150M (UMA)
