NVIDIA has officially released version 197.44 graphics drivers for GeForce and Quadro-based notebooks through their Developer Zone.

Edit: See LaptopVideo2Go link on first post for download links.

As for WHQL certification, I'm currently trying to verify that this is so.

Why graphic driver updates are raining..or they are just solving problem less and updating more ?

Its pretty much annoying to me or i assume people like me, who have limited bandwidth, and they also interested in trying new drivers , and they download new drivers and install them, and hoping they have installed latest drivers, and few days later new drivers pop up. And they start downloading latest drivers again....

Thanks for the heads up, I have just installed these ones and am currently testing out GTA IV to note performance. I will also check to make sure they downclock correctly etc.

Also, do these have the 3D Vision panel in the NVIDIA Control Panel? I'm using LV2G's 197.25 drivers and the NVIDIA 3D Vision Discover (red/blue) glasses and Burnout is suddenly a lot more fun...

Version 197.45 is available for desktop GeForce and ION products only from what I'm seeing. However, the INF can probably be modified so that it can support notebook GeForce/Quadro graphics as well. LaptopVideo2Go should hopefully have them up soon for your convenience. :)

Just some anecdotal findings to report.

197.16, 197.25 (modded desktop), and 197.44 all scored 8300+ stock on my 8800GTS in 3dMark06. About 200 points higher than any previous driver max.

197.16 runs lowest temps, decent frames on DA:O at max settings. At time of install, best driver to date for me.

197.25 temps higher by 2C at idle and during gameplay, again DA:O. Slightly less (1-2?) frames, but the graphics are noticeably more beautiful...radiance, detail, color...just a big difference to me personally. May be the 3D enhancements that my naked eye detects, although I haven't looked for or can verify that they are enabled.

197.44 Much the same WOW factor for me visually as 197.25, but slower frames and higer temps than either of the previous 2 mentioned drivers. Marginal differences but they are there on my system.

In conclusion, I prefer the 197.25...modded the original, included .inf to only include my gpu, and it loaded fine.

Also to note, I have had no BSOD's with any of these drivers, as I did with the whole 196 series.

Downclocking seems to work fine for all these sets as well.

Hope this helps some folks out.

I'm using 197.25 drivers and it would appear they do not downclock for me.
Furthermore, the benchmark tests give me lower FPS in contrast to the 185.85 DOX modded drivers which is another strange thing.

None of the Nvidia WHQL drivers sans dox's modded 185.85 ones gave me notable improvements.

Anyone have any idea why this is so?

I get the BSOD with 197.16 too. But if I boot up on battery it doesn't happen...

Gonna try these new ones I guess.

After changing PerfLevelSrc to 3333 downclocking works for me.
    I'm using an ASUS G71Gx with a GTX260M.

    hi ronli,

Open the registry editor, Start -> Run regedit, and navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video.

Right click the Video folder and Find PerfLevelSrc.
Double click PerfLevelSrc and change the value from 2222 to 3333.
I changed all occurrences of PerfLevelSrc to 3333, maybe this isn't necessary.
    Reboot.
    This should work.

How do i install these drivers for 285m GTX?

It says they're compatible but the installer says i do not have compatible graphics card or something like that.

The installer isn't picking up your hardware ID even though it is compatible. If you still want to install them you will need to use a modified.inf to do it.

Giving these a shot, even though my modified inf installed 197.25 has been running fine (brightness and downclocking properly). I've read a few people having powermizer working with VGA/HDMI but not so much for me (probably because 197.25 is for desktops, I dunno). Maybe these will do it.

I had similar problems with 197.16. The old trick with booting to the safe mode and cleaning up all traces of the previous NVidia driver resolved all issues. My xps-1730 with SLI 8800mgtx and dual boot runs both XP and Win-7 with 197.16 just fine. No improvement with 3d mark 2006 (slightly above 14000) but some games run much better probably due to improved SLI support for some games.
