i know that the Quadro cards are meant for game design and stuff, but how well would it be for gaming?

QuadroFX cards are based off the same cores as the GeForce cards. For example, the QuadroFX3500M is based off the same core as the Go7950GTX. They use different drivers(optimised for what they are supposed to do). In general, due to different drivers, and slightly different hardware, the gaming performance is about 5-10% lower than the equivalent GeForce card.

Well, you could always use the regular GeForce drivers after a bit of modding....

Yeah, the performance hit isn't too big between consumer and workstation graphics cards. The difference is that the workstation graphics cards are designed more towards 2D applications, whereas the consumer graphics cards are oriented towards 3D game-style graphics. You'll hardly notice a real-world difference though in an actual game.

No, you don't. There is no such thing as a FX320M...

There is a NVS 320M but that's a different story...

What notebook are you looking at?

Just so you know, the Go7950GTX is not DirectX 10 compatible. Only the GeForce 8M series cards are DirectX 10.

I have FX2500M and I can run every game on max so far. I have also heard somewhere that FX2500M > 7900GTX.

Then again, it's called the Quadro NVS 320M (I guess you're talking about the HP 8710p) and it's based on the mobile 8600M GT not desktop.

So I should be able to run Steam games (Half-Life 2 etc.) pretty good then? When I get my T61 (if I get it) would it be worth it to change the drivers or is their a possibility of bricking the laptop in the process? I don't want to do that for a 5%-10% gain. :D

Modding cards is a little tricky. I wouldn't recommend doing that unless you know your stuff.

I don't think it's that risky. You should probably be able to do it just fine. As I read sometime ago you can actually mod your normal gforce card to run quadro drivers (but it requires some hardware tweaking).

What do you have to do? Is it just software modification or physical hardware modification? Possible to brick or rollback? Most I've ever done is just overclock and that's it......but that's simple. Just wanna know what I might get myself into. :D

There's both hardware and software chages involved. Some features/pipelines have to be unlocked(in some cases, not all). And drivers other than originally intended have to be installed. There are better informed people here, who can guide you...

Sounds too complicated for me. :( Anyways, can someone confirm it's equivalent to the 8400 GT or some other card for sure?
