I'm ready to purchase a Lenovo T510.
My last concern is whether or not I want the NVS 3100M discrete or stay with Intel HD integrated.
I don't need the Nvidia THAT much, but the difference in cost is not big and I don't mind paying it.
BUT, I want to make sure that it comes with switchable graphics for the sake of battery life.
The actual Lenovo website lists the graphics card as ""NVIDIA NVS 3100m Optimus Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Memory:
Lenovo - Laptop computers - ThinkPad T510
And I understand the "Optimus" means that auto-switching is available.
However, the dealer I'm purchasing from only lists the graphics card as "NVIDIA Quadro NVS 3100M". Is it possible that it is not "Optimus"? Or are there no other versions of the NVS 3100M, and they are all "Optimus"?
I'd appreciate a verified answer on this.
Thanks.

The newly-launched T510s (and T410's) from October onwards, come with Nvidia Optimus Graphics - ie, the 'auto-switching' you refer to.
All T510s and T410's launched BEFORE October, come with only 1) Intel HD graphics, OR 2) Nvidia NVS 3100m graphics (dedicated). There is no option for switchable graphics, Optimus or otherwise, in pre-October Thinkpads (both T410 and T510).
If you definitely want to have switchable graphics in your new purchase, make sure you buy from a dealer that stocks the new T510 - which is the one now listed on the Lenovo site.
Hope this helps!
