thanks, weill check it out.

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Downloading the driver now. I'll have a modded inf if anyone needs one. Thanks for the heads up.
-
finally.............
-
Well looks like you need a 2nd GPU to make it dedicated for Physx for best results and to make the Physx experience as smooth as possible.
-
hey could I have the INF Forerunner?
EDIT: nvm, it just installed without the INF? -
I have the 8600M GT in my Inspiron 1520. It says the driver is only for desktop, but will it work with my mobile card? And Forerunner, do you have a modded inf (or do I need one)?
-
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah I'll get one up.
Nars it shouldn't have installed without the inf. Maybe it said the system wasn't modified and you didn't notice. -
Yeah stupid mistake. I should have known it wouldn't find compatible hardware. Thanks for your help. Can't wait for the inf!
-
nope, it installed, and I restarted...
EDIT: the driver version is still 177.73, it is 177.83, so I guess it didnt "really" install. -
-
oh yeah i forgot about the modded inf

For the under knowledged about graphics cards how does "CUDA" and "PhysX" help gaming performance. How does it affect GPU temp or other temperatures.
Just thought those questions should be answered for many people who do not even know what "CUDA" and "PhysX" -
I'm pretty sure they started adding the G9x mobile cards in their drivers some months ago...
Downloading with Warmonger right now.
@X2P: CUDA is mainly for development (or things such as folding*@home). It's the real name of Nvidia's DX10 achitecture actually, IIRC. PhysX allows you do enable PhysX's hardware physics. I don't think it affects much performances. Well, maybe on a 8400/9300... -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
There you go. This is for vista 32. I think I covered all of the 8 series.
Just change the extension from .doc to .inf .Attached Files:

It is obv something else to do for the GPU, with PhysX anways, it will utilize the GPU core because thats what PhysX is. It wont help unless it is enalbed within the game, and there are pretty much no games that take advantage of PhysX.
EDIT: Forerunner, your link doesnt work... -
For those who are looking for the modded inf, I used the 177.79 from laptop video 2 go. That one's the latest out and seems to be the pervading one used by the forum goers over there. You guys can get it here or head over the laptopvideo2go 177.79 driver post.
-
CUDA look simpressive from what's on the site. What cards have that though?
-
-
-
ill link to it in the op -
-
The 7150 is based on the GF8, and has the USPs. IIRC
Notice the m rather than go too. -
The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
Nars, does the link work now?
-
yes, but im in XP anyways....i just got one off the older drivers.

Tinderbox (UK) BAKED BEAN KING
Warmonger is not very good! but it`s free! , you can see some waving in the wind pices of cloth the PhysX.
-
Thanks.
-
at least it was free -
-
I am getting almost all of the demos. It's about 2.5 gb worth of download. I will post benchmarch of the games/Tech Demos running with the old driver and the new driver with PhysX when I get home. I personally want to see if the PhysX really help with performance or not, it could be the opposite, who know.
-
1 for physx and 1 for the rest
-
just installed the new drivers on my m1530 (8600m GT ddr3)
and in 3dmark06 i got 4661 on stock speeds.
this is in comparison to the last driver i was using (174.74) where i got 4544 on stock speeds. so a nice increase of over 100 points.
i have yet to try any games yet though.
anyone notice any difference in game? -
just played cod4 for a few min
temperature normal at a stable 78 celcius -
so if GPU take over the job, then what's CPU gonna do? aren't GPUs bottlenecked enough already?
-
I renamed it to nv_disp.inf but it still is a doc file. Why can't you just upload it in .inf instead of .doc?
-
I downloaded the .inf file from laptopvideo2go, but it didn't install the Nvidia Control Panel on Gateway w/ 8800m GTS.... so I'm going to try your .inf file Forerunner, hope it works better
-
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_physxgames_home.html -
Downloaded the file but it's a .exe.
How do I extract to a file so I can add the .inf file??
Nevermind.
I figured out where it is. -
Double click on it, and it will ask you where you to exact it.
Has anyone see any difference in the game/demo provided by Nvidia in terms of performance? I installed the driver along with PhysX, but I see no change in CPU usage and fps which is always at 100% with a low fps. In regular Control Panel (not Nvidia Control Panel) under PhysX, it says Geforce PhysX is ticked and enabled, but I still do not see any improvement at all. As reference, I was running "The Great Kulu" demo @ 640 x 480 with 8600m GT (ddr2) and a 1.6 Ghz C2D. -
Hate to ask, but does anyone have a WinXP 32bit .inf file? I have a c90 with a 8600m and cannot remember/find the code for it.
-
177.83 for WinXP 32-bit

PhysX v8.08.01
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=20095
Works for me. -
PhysX + COD4 on Steam + 8600 M GT = AMAZINGGGGG
-
so physX makes difference in COD4?
-
Wonder how long till we get support for the 9000m series. I know on my GTX260, it looks great =)
-
COD4 doesnt support PhysX, so i dont see how it would possibly do ANYTHING
-
-
i tried out warmonger and it looks really good with the physx.

Tried this and experimented 2 days now with the 177.79 drivers and the physx 8.7.18 or the newest version. I have a toshiba x205 sli1 so it has dual 8600m gts. The best driver I tried so far is 175.19 which scores 7575 (my last run on 3dmark6 basic) anyway with 177.79 it dropped to 7345 then with the physx enabled 3dmark gave me 7325. I tried playing Call of Duty 4 multiplayer and the performance dropped to 30 frames per second and less with physx enabled with it disabled it was an inconsistent 60 fps. I was disappointed to say the least. So I tried with Bioshock since it's an unreal 3 engine and compared to 175.19 the fps was 30-60 fps with maxed out graphics at 1440x900 which didn't improve at all. I love Call of Duty 4 multiplayer and that's what I mostly play but it was getting very bad performance due to the 177.79 drivers and physx. So I uninstalled and went back to 175.19, which gives me the highest score on 3dmark6 and the best performance for my games. I also tried physx with 175.90 and 176.05 official drivers for Toshiba laptops but physx couldn't be enabled. Also those drivers gave me about the same score as 177.79 (7300+) which is 200 pts less than 175.19. Right now Physx is just hype and I don't see a benefit, infact I see a hit in performance, And this is 2 days of long hours spent testing all these drivers installing, uninstalling running 3dmark and playing games while observing frames per second.

Theres no benefit unless its CODED FOR THE GAME UT3 and only a few other are, you need to look it up on the net. Otherwise it wont do anything. At all.
