    http://www.overclock.net/attachment...3-info-gt-425m-1007301917d70d3c0ba9703f8c.png

    In Summary

    Core Speed: 560MHz
Memory Speed: 800MHz Memory Bus: 128 Bit
Pixel Shaders: ? Shader Speed: 1120MHz
    Process: 40nm (?)
    DirectX: 10 (?)

I am not sure if we need to wait for the NVidia GT 435M but this new fermi-based card does not seem like a big upgrade over the previous 300 series. But I am comparing it to the 335M.

This appears to be a benchmark taken from a Lenovo Y460 with a 425M option.

Your clock speeds match up with what I've found in the GT 430M, though this is supposed to be based on the GF108 chip with 40nm, 96 SP (72SP in GT 335M and 48SP in GT 330M), GDDR3 memory, and DX11 support.

This thing will be useless on the gaming side of DX11 support, but the doubling of the shader processors over 330 GT should be nice.

For screens with resolutions of 1366x768, I think you could play games in DX11. Maybe on medium, but still DX11.

I was hoping for a little more punch than that. Seems like the only reason to choose NVidia right now in the medium gaming segment is for Optimus. And Optimus is not an option in the i7-720M offerings.

Why would one choose the Asus N53JQ over the N61JQ for anything other than looks and a hyped up sound system which still is not good enough for an audiophile?

    Edit: USB 3.0 I guess.

Optimus doesent work with the current i7 (Real) quads because they lack the Intel IGP inside the CPU.
Once Sandy Bridge notebook CPUs hit the marked, all of the prosessors will feature Intel IGP.

that 3dmark06 was not run at the default resolution of 1280x1024 so it skews the results some. 1366x768 is about 20% less pixels per frame

I think you can compare the 425m the best with the gts 350m. Notebookcheck: Mobile Graphics Cards - Benchmark List
They got both 96 sp. De core speeds of the 425m is 60 mhz hoger with 560 mhz, but the shader clock is lower 1120 VS 1250. The memory speed for both the cards is 1600 mhz. The 800mhz for the 425m is a mistake. I think you van compare with ati's hd56xx and hd57xx series.

The memory speed of GDDR3 is actually 800MHz... there is no GDDR3 on the market that can go up to 1600MHz.

The speeds of gddr3 is double rated i thought. 800 mhz make 1600 effective

True, but the actual speed is still 800MHz. It's effective speed is 1600MHz.

No one in this thread have a laptop with GT425M GPU.
News was taken from here: http://ideapad.it168.com/viewthread.php?tid=613524

EDIT: Apparently it's from upcoming model of Lenovo Y460
They've been repeatingly saying it doesn't seem to be as powerful as GT335M or Radeon HD 5650

The N61JQ has USB 3.0 as well.

I think looks might be the key... But if the 425M is really as lame as Notebookcheck has posted, the N61JQ's video card is better. I'd rather have a good video card than a cool chassis.

They both get 7700 in 3dmark06, but the 335M is paired with a Core i7 while the 445M is paired with a Core i3.

It would be a radical departure from Nvidia's naming convention to not have the GT445M better than the GT335M: they've never released a GPU with the same prefix and equal or greater digits (except for the digit corresponding to the generation, of course) without the newer GPU being better. Even when they were outright renaming things, the second digit either stayed the same (8800 GT to 9800 GT) or went down (8600M GT to 9500M GS). I'd wait for the official release with proper drivers before accepting extraordinary claims.

What is odd is the tardiness of NVidia in putting these cards up on their website.

We have a small sampling of some notebooks that are using them in the wild but no info from NVidia.

I was waiting on the N53 but right now I am not so sure it makes any sense. The ATi 5650 is better and Optimus is not compelling enough for my use to make up for the difference.

Found this on the net (on several chineese forums; dunno which cinebench version number though):

Also, some cinebench r10 results on notebookcheck.net show the following:

No results for the GT 425M yet, but there is one result for the GT 420M, which has 12% slower clock settings.

    You do the math!
Looks like nVidia is getting on par with ATI's 2 years old results (ATI didn't make much advance since then)...
    ;)

Does anyone have any benchmarks recently?
I'm wondering if I can play Crysis with this 425m on the i5-560 on medium settings (at the 1366 by 768 resolution)
