I am not a gamer. But I am intrigued. Particularly by this one game, which I saw segments of while I was running 3DMARK05.
Could someone be so kind as to tell me the name of this game that was used in this benchmark test? There is this airship gliding through a narrow waterway with towering cliffs on either side. All of a sudden this nasty dragon type creature launches itself out of the water and goes up and over the airship. In another scenario airship barely escapes becoming a meal for this ill tempered creature.
I guess my score was pretty pathetic. First run the 3D Mark was 2565, Second run was 1774. I have on board a Nividia GeForce 8400 GS.
Could I still 'get by' with this graphics card were I to purchase this game? If not, what would be a modest upgrade that would make this game more pleasurable without breaking the bank?
BTW my CPU score was 9900. Can someone explain what that means.
Thanks in advance.

That is just a sample 3D clip, there is no game of it.
-
3dmark benchmarks are just highly intensive CG movies that test how well your computer can render the clips. none of those clips are movies, just computer graphic animations.
-
Its not a game its the actual program which makes your video card render all the textures and 3d models to come up with a score at the end based on how well your computer performed. Sorry to burst your bubble XD

Maybe we can suggest other games with dragons and airships?
I seem to recall one from my last dream. -
Hey maybe you will get lucky oneday and they will create a game with dragons and airships
until then lets look forward to Diablo 3!

Dragons and airships...sounds a lot like the Warcraft universe to me.
-
The final fantasy series nearly always has a dragon and an airship
Not sure about FF-online... but i'd guess it does

warcraft 2

Yeh the video looks alot like FF

Watch for the upcoming Dragon Age: Origins being made by Bioware. Preliminary screenshots certainly look similar to the graphics sequence in 3DMark.

Let's say that I purchase a game. What tools will I absolutely need beside the keyboard?
Thanks..

Mr._Kubelwagen More machine now than man
You'll need a mouse, most definitely. If you're on a laptop, some external speakers might be nice to have.

Toilet and Mouse... Ok. Regarding the toilet part, I may have to jury rig some sort of hosing apparatus.
Could anyone suggest a place to start when purchasing a game. Would prefer not to have to spend half of what is left of my life and waking hours trying to figure out how to play the game. Nor am I absolutely tied to immediate gratification - although there is nothing, absolutely nothing wrong with gratification which comes quickly. But, I can live with a little bit of frustration.
I think that what would appeal to me is a game where I am not burrowing down into Gothic chambers containing upwards of a thousand doors as well as endless gloomy staircases lit by flickering candles.
I dunno. Maybe that was what was so appealing about wPrime and that short test with the flying ship. The colors were vivid especially the water, which was dazzling and shadows cast against the side of the cliffs and in the vessel seemed alive.
Signal2Noise mentioned Dragon Age, but it isn't out yet. Any suggestions and links to reviews will be appreciated.
