    Hey everyone,

I just downloaded the new NFS Street King demo and was underwhelmed. Compared to Carbon it seemed to, well, stink. Anyone have a different experience or a racing game they prefer?

Download the GRID demo.... I just played it and it was pretty intense, and plays awesome with the xbox controller. All buttons already mapped out as they would be for the xbox 360 version.

Comes out tomorrow, and from the demo, I definitely will get it.

Pro Street is the worst NFS title. I brought it & feel sorry about my self for wasting my money. :(

NFS Most Wanted is my favorite. Nothing without crazy police in Corvettes and Grand Cherokees :D.

Otherwise, GTR 2 is great, but only with joypad. It's painful playing via keyboard. :(

I wasn't impressed either. It had potential but they screwed it up. Game was short and lacked the feel the others had :(.

I play prostreet only because it has a huge selection of cars. I played some of the races and got bored maybe halfway through, so just found a 100% savegame and messed around with unlock all of the hidden cars (Buggatti, Mclaren F1).

If you like racing games, here's the best suggestion: forget about PC racers and get a PS3 or 360. NFS started to go downhill after High Stakes in my opinion. If people like arcade racers, i guess NFS is still good, but there are no real racers out there for PC anymore. Grid is pretty and everything, but the cars handle like sh**; the driving engine does not make any sense in that game. People seems to like most Wanted, but it's too unrealistic. The game goes against all physic laws, and you gain nitrous by performing tricks? Freaking fairy tale! I love Burnout because it looks, acts and feels like an arcade racer, but I don't like when it arcade racers try to be real. This is why I'm waiting to get a PS3 and GT5; untouched franchise!

    GTR 2 is great simulation.

rFactor is pure simulation, and very hard, too! :(

Good point about GTR2, but it looks too cartoonish. Have you heard of anything else that might be coming out for PC?

    Did you try rFactor?

It's brutal simulation, GTR 2 is a kid compared to it ;). There are great mods for it, too.

It looks too cartoony, but I'll take your word on the simulation aspect. I'll give you an example of three great titles: Gran Turismo series, Metropolis Street Racer (Dreamcast), and the PGR series.

Heh, I tried it yesterday and found the keyboard controls to be beyond horrible, even after trying to calibrate them. I wasn't too happy with the latest NFS installment, but at least it was playable in that sense.

It's horrible even if you use a controller. It's the game's physics; it has arcade handling that thinks it's simulation.

Yeah, it makes the game nearly unplayable for me. The cars feel so twitchy, but they aren't simulation-like.
