I was wondering whether or not an ATI RADEON 9200 AGP 8X 128MB would be compatable for NFS C.
the site ask for one of the folowing chipsets:
A video card with 64 MB memory and one of these chipsets is required:

    NVIDIA GeForce3 / NVIDIA GeForce4 (Ti series only) / ATI Radeon 8500.
Laptop versions of these chipsets may work but are not supported

is this game restricted to these chip sets only?.......NFS MS worked fine.....am I just wasting my time looking into Carbon?
Here's the link with the requirements in question:

yeah, i think a 9200 is newer then an 8500, but your really pushing the limit, i would be surprised if it played it at any settings at a decent frame rate.

    I think,
it's because carbon supports only SM3 Cards only..
    SM3 cards in GF 6xxxSeries or AtiX1k series :)

He posted the requirements in his very first post - Carbon does not only support SM3 cards.

Regards your 9200 it should work but, the 8500 is better then a 9200, don't let the numbers fool you. Ever notice in many games, Battlefield 2 for example, the 8500 is supported yet the 9000, 9100, 9200 and 9250 are not? Thats why.

I've got a 9800 pro, and it's strained when I play NFS Carbon - at 1280 x 1024, at least. It runs fine on med-low settings, but, then again, the 9800 pro is a much better card then the 9200.

well......the only reason I asked about the 9200 is because that's what's in the computer right know.....not because of the numbers.......here is my question, plain and simple:
Will NFS C run with this card without conflict?(settings are not an issue so long as the game runs)

heres another game related question but for a different game:
my brother bought Lego StarWars II for the desktop with the 9200.
it runs on my laptop with an x1400 but it pulls up multiple error messages saying that some cabinet files may be corrupt when I try to install it for him.
I went to look at the files using the desktop and they indead appear to be corrupt......but why would this be if the desktop more than meets the requirements and it also works on another (my laptop) computer.
I've updated practically every drive I can think of and I verified that it has dx 9c.
could it be that one of the hardware parts is not fully compatable with dx9c?
does the 9200 have both vetex and pixel shaders.....that's the only reason that I can come up with for why it works on my laptop but not on the family desktop.

I guess nobody has an answer to any of my questions.....either that or nobody has gotten around to it yet.......I hope that latter of the two reasons is why I haven't heard from anyone yet.

    Driver issue maybe...
Try install the directX from the carbon DVD.

If it doesn't work, try to install the latest ATI mobility radeon 9200 supported video driver..
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=64910

    If it still doesn't work,
    I guess it's either 9200's DX9c issue or SM3 issue

I just bought Carbon this weekend and it works like a dream so far.

I guess nobody wanted/could answer my question about Lego StarWars II.
