Hi guys, I am playing the mentioned game in the post titled and I'm having some issues. Sometimes, it lags with my current settings but still playable though. I'm not certain about the exact FPS that the game is outputting when it lags, but I think it's around 20-25. The lag is apparent even though I lowered the resolution to 768p. AND FOR SOME WEIRD REASON, the game experiences less choppiness when I bump the resolution up to 1080p. For NFS players out there, can you help me resolve this problem? Here are some details that may help:

    A. Laptop unit: Sager NP 7330, Intel i7-4700MQ, Nvidia GTX 765M running Windows 8.1

    B. Game settings (as suggested from Nvidia GeForce Experience): AO-off, Display mode-Full Screen, Geometry Detail-Low, Headlight shadows-Off, High Resolution Textures-Off, Light Scattering-Off, Motion Blur-None, Reflection Detail-Medium, Shadow Level-High, Super-sampling-Off, VFX Detail-Low

For the resolution, 768p is already fine for me since when I play in my room with lights off, I keep a distance of around 0.5 meters away from the monitor.

    C. Gaming peripherals: Razer Naga Hex with Razer Synapse installed and Xbox 360 controller for Windows with Xbox accessories installed, Deepcool Multicore X8 set to maximum

    D. Programs that may affect resources: Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, Avira Antivirus 2014

    E. Power settings: Balanced

    F. Memory usage before gaming: 17-19%

The temps for CPU are between 65 to 75 C while for the GPU, it's around 54-60 C.

I also tried different voltage and clock settings for the CPU and graphics card, but all are in vain. I am wondering whether the problem is inherent on the game. If that's the case, it'd be a bummer since I've been wanting to play NFS Rivals too.

Hope some of you can help me... Cheers.

    Suggest trying to
how the HELL did you use tapatalk on a Clevo W230ST? *shakes head*

ANYWAY. I suggest turning reflections and shadows off, throwing res back to 1080 and trying geometry/vfx on "medium" first. If still issues, try it on low. Shadows and reflections are GPU-hungry things; they probably are going to drain your system more than making the road look a little better.

Okay, thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it on my free time since it's office hours by now. I installed Tapatalk as a Windows 8.1 app and it works fine.

Hi, I've already tested the settings you mentioned awhile ago. I also used Bandicam so I can check the FPS. The thing is, I see the game lags on the screen (even with the settings you suggested and even at 768p) at 60. What do you call this, frameskipping? Also, the game decreases FPS on occasions such as when I crash into another car. It decreases to about 40 FPS but only for a short while. The 'lag' is also most prevalent after an hour of playing.

It sucks; my system have dual 4 GB RAM (a total of 8 GB for the system) but isn't that already generous for a game such as NFS and even with low resolution?

Another note: When I play Dota in max settings, I don't notice any problem at all. I haven't installed any game yet since my primary drive has already 60 GB of programs in it. And yes, it's an SSD (Crucial M550 to be exact).

    What do you think?

    EDIT: I think it's called microstuttering, but that on a non-SLI 765M?

Hmm... that's very odd. Also forgive me, Need For Speed: Most Wanted is an old game. You should be able to play it perfectly fine... I was thinking you were playing the new NFS: Hot Pursuit for some reason... I want you to check and make sure in nVidia control panel that the game is indeed using your 765M card. I was able to max Most Wanted on my 280M and your 765M plays paddle ball knocking my 280M around in terms of power. Something is definitely wrong, you should be able to max that game at 1080p.

Hey, I'm referring to NFS Most Wanted (2012), not the older one. And yes, I'm sure the game is utilizing my Nvidia graphics card. I've also read in the Internet that EA (or Criterion) makes poor PC ports of their games. So I found out that there were also others who experience the stuttering issue.

To clarifying things up, are you referring to the same game (NFS MW 2012) that you played on your 280M?

Could be similar to NFS Rivals or whatever the most recent one is called? That PC port is locked at 30 fps if I'm not mistaken.

Oh no, my bad, I thought it was the earlier one from like 2007 or something you had played. But still though, you indeed have an issue with that. If the game's fundamentally broken, then so be it, but you still should be doing a bit better. I'm kind of sad you aren't.

Yes I think I'm doing better compared to what I read about other's experiences. There are a lot of complaints about EA's/Criterion's PC ports. But I can also understand since this game was made to have 720p resolution on PS 3 and Xbox 360. I'll still play the game; I'm really enjoying it. :)

Just want to update that the stutter issues were fix when I updated my Nvidia drivers. :) Now my trust to EA is back.
