The X1400 should also play NFS: Carbon well. The Go 7600 is the better card though.

What is Carbon going to actually come out?

Maybe the bigger question is how much advertising and (yuck) spyware will come with the game, and if we'll get a little pink slip...

NFS: Carbon should be released next month, in time for Thanksgiving & Christmas. I dont think there will be any included spyware. I havent noticed any spyware or issues with any Electronic Arts title that I have used.

I boiled down to the fact that 2142 had a program on it that would (1) give your IP to a server, who then would send back the billboard (ad) textures for the in game maps, and (2) possibly would scan your computer browsing habits (ie: cookies, temp files) and also tell that advertising server what you would prefer to see based on those browsing habits...

Supposedly, it is all anonymous...supposedly...yeah right. Anyway, $50 game and you still have to deal with all that crap...not for me thank you. And the best part is that the packaging doesn't even admit it amounts to spyware until AFTER you open the game case...and lose the ability to return the game. Catch 22, and completely dishonest. At least this is hitting the news.

To make it even better, I've also read (but not confirmed) that 2142 recommends that you uninstall a XP security hotfix that protects the computer against hackers that can take control of your computer. Just so their advertising program will work and not be flagged by Windows...again, bad move. I'm also fairly certain that Norton (or other AV) would probably identify it as some type of malware as well.

I'm just hoping this ad-based game crap doesn't spill over into other games made by the EA.

    Well said. I concur.

I hope EA doesn't include spyware in their NFS series. That would be bad business, since anyone who knows beforehand, would refrain from making a purchase.
