Any comments? With it coming out on November 1st, this thing is going to be great considering Most Wanted was so fun.
Who is getting it?
-
-
MW is fun. It's pretty much the only game i'm playing right now.
I played the demo for Carbon and it was the polar opposite. Not fun at all. Granted, it was only a sneak peak, but I was unimpressed.
I guess if they take that ridiculous "drag" racing element out, it'll be a saving grace.
here's hoping it's not a step backwards -
im downloading the demo right now and i will post screenshots ASAP
-
ill be getting carbon. Ive been waiting for it ever since i finished MW
-
I loved the first 3 NFS games. I haven't played any of the newer ones though, does anyone have any links with info about Carbon? I'm pretty much hooked on playing Gran Turismo on PS2 now, but now that I have some new hardward I might have to give PC gaming another shot.

Here's another thread with the same topic (only it deals with the demo). It looks like this game also uses that in-game advertising technology, which is a deal-breaker for me. I'll quote myself:
-
I don't game that much, but I am a total NFS fanatic. I'm going through MW on my PSP for like the third time now. I will definitely be getting it.
-
Not sure yet. I don't like the demo all that much. I find myself playing it a lot the past couple of days, and sadly, I do the drift sequences most of the time. But it's only cause I <3 the drift and my PS2 is at home, so that means no drifting in GT3 (which actually takes skill). Drifting in this game is nowhere near NFSU quality. The car just slides sideways and you try to keep from hitting the wall. I'm getting the hang of it though, and I got over 230,000 points on it today.
Other than that, the racing was mediocre, but I kind of liked the Canyon segment. Autosculpt is cool in some places (like adding a blower to the Camaro... dang dang), but stupid in others, like making the (ricer) wing on your car even bigger. And while it's nice to customize the wheels, I'd rather slap on some Volks and be really happy. Hell, even give me some BBS and Enki's to choose from.
The graphics are good, far better than MW IMHO, and it runs much smoother. I'm also really excited to see all the new cars, especially the new Challenger concept that they are including. I'll just have to wait and see. The IGN review wasn't all that great, just FYI. -
I checked out the game info on ea.com, they don't really do a great job selling the game, unless there really isn't much "meat" to it like it appears. I have to admit that the graphics look great and the car selection is real nice. Seeing the MK5 R32 appeals a lot to me personally
The series started off with a partnership with road&track and a lot of attention to specs, and an attepmt at driving physics before the GT series really showed what was capable. I feel like while each new release seems more entertaining, it strays more and more from the enthusiast game that started the franchise. Maybe I'm just a purist... I like everything cars though to be honest, so I'm sure I'll have more fun playing this than I will most other computer games, so I'm sure I'll give it a shot. -

I posted some screens in another thread, runs great on X1600 256mb. All maxed at 1024 x 768 with 2xAA.
Looks great -
idk if i will be getting it, the spyware thing really turns me off...
-
I personally loved the demo, like I do with all NFS games. I already bought the collector's edition yesterday after work, but didn't have time to play. Will definitely try to leave work early today to get started.
The demo played ok on my T60 (2.0Ghz, x1400) at 1024x768 with car and environ details on high and max, but with everything else on low. It begins to lag too much for me if I up the setting on anything else. I personally think MW looked better on my notebook than the Carbon demo did. Hopefully, things have been tweaked for the release version and I can actually improve some graphics quality.
cheers! -

I have a Sony SZ2 with 2Ghz CoreDuo & 2GB RAM with a NV7400, any chance Carbon will play nicely on this machine?
-
If it played on X1400 then it might be ok on 7400 too. Just give demo a try.
-

The X1400 and the NV7400 are pretty similar performancewise. What was your detail level when you ran if on the X1400? I'd ty the demo but my broadband is limited and I dont wanna waste the MBs if not really needed. Your observations with the X1400 would be enough for me. You "played" it means that everything ran fine? Medium details? Or even max? Thanks you the help.
-
I haven't played it on X1400, but see earlier post by ramian.
-
Carbon sucks. Period. I love NFS, have played all parts since first but MW and now Carbon are worst in whole series.
-
does carbon features cops?..

Yea, the website shows a Jeep-ish cop SUV, and then a Z06 and something else, 3 total. -

Wish i could play it, but i doubt my laptop would have the juice, oh well. And i'm not about to play it on 800X600, that's pointless.

No sir, this game is not for me. I downloaded the demo and while I could play it on my SZ2 with its NV7400 it was not much fun. The settings needed to be at a medium-high level and the game does not even properly support widescreen lcds. Considering what level of detail I can play my GTR2 on (that would be pretty much the max except only 10 visible cars) I rather stay away from Carbon. I must admit the car selection (esp. the muscles) appeals to me though. But I don't intend to play a visually crippeled game where GTR2 offers me so much more.
-
hi... i got the full game... but everytime i tried to load the game... i got a BSOD... i tried to play it on my t60p with ati firegl 5200... anyone have the similar problem or probably know what the problem is? thanks...
-
got a chance to play the full version of the game today. I must say I'm not impressed. The game has lost even more realism (not that it had much of it left in Most Wanted). There is really nothing new in this release. Different features like wingmen and new cars are cool and all but imho don't add much to the game. Car tuning options are even worse in this release, I was extremely disappointed after a lot of tuning has been dropped after Underground 2, and now the amount of tuning you can do is laughable. I think EA had tried to build on the success they had with most wanted, make the game more entertaining, and... well... failed. Looks like the game is primarily aimed at teenage game console users and not at people who know at least something about cars as it was with previous versions. After playing for 3 hours, I know that I will not be buying the game. And yeah, adding spyware to the game is not cool, Mr. EA.
P.S. Ohh how I hate Progressive Insurance ads on SUV's in the game, ohh how I hate them! -
anyone tried playing this on a gma 900 or know anything to do so i can play it?, i was excited when everyone said that any computer that were able to run MW will be able to run carbon, and then i saw that it required a 64mb for the video card , but know i tried to run the demo and i cant.I have a black screen then it crashes to the desktop.
-
I have just install the game, havent played it yet
I like NFS Carbon on the PSP very much, it hard and it cool
I like NFS MW too, i think it good, more better than UG2
I wonder wat setting I should set on
I have a 7600 with 512MB RAM, please advice
I will share my opinion after I played for a while and yet, i was looking forward very much for this game.
Have a nice day -
I played the game, big big big dissapointment, maybe not that big but it completely not what is have expected
The requirement for the game to look normal ( a little bit good) is two high. I have T2400, 2GB RAM, 7600 with 512MB and I can only run it at 1024x768 with alot shutter. But then the graphic look bad, not as good as Most Wanted. The car have refection made it look strange. Overall, system hog with bad graphic
The course look and feel very very much like Most wanted, I feel like I have race on Most Wanted at night.
The night race setting may sound good, in fact it too dark, it a dark city. And since it dark there alot shadow, another reason for system requirement.
Music are not that good, so so I think
That the bad things, good thing is that it still give a very good feeling when racing. the story is so so, some character comeback from Most wanted. They done the CG and story telling very good, there are more story video this time.
The wingman features is good, sometimes, not always
So, you have a very powerful PC and like racing then you can try this, I still like Most wanted, nice graphic and low req. Maybe this look good on Xbox360 or PS3.
P.S: bad english I know, sorry and have a nice day -
I opted for the PS2 version. I can't say im disappointed, since I wasn't expecting a Game of the Year candidate anyways. In fact, I expect all NFS to be about average, so I really enjoyed NFS: MW. NFS: Carbon didn't evolve much in terms of gameplay, but the environment is more reverted back to the city night time NFS: Underground.

I'm having a bit of trouble installing NFS:Carbon, it reaches 22% and gives me an error such as TRACKS\STREAML5RA.BUN cannot be read/installed or something those lines. According to the minimum requirements my desktop computer is able to install it. Does anyone know why?
-
To Bwen, I think your disc is damaged based on the errors happend when you are installing.
If you cant play then it will tell you after you install and try to play so you may want to check if the disc is damaged or your DVD drive
Good luck -
i just installed on my acer 5672 and it is so fast... can't believe it.
i will play this eve more, as i'm in office
i just give a fast play with a default car, 2 races, and i'm quite impressed on the speed of the game, no slow down or long loads... -

After play around with NFSC, I think it will play great on mainstream or high end graphic card like X1600 or 7600 and up if you want to play at good fps. I have to overclock my Go 7400 card at 134% in order to play good enough fps in medium-high quality at 1024x768. The car detail is much better than NFS MW.
Does NFSC has daytime race? -

Today, I can't wait to go home and see if it even works!
-
i cant get it to run on my laptop. I think its because the game starts in 640X480 model. While my 945GM does not have that option. Hence the game crashes upon startup =[
anyone knows how to fix that? -
I have downloaded NFSC , i have successfully installed it and when i click on the shortcut on my desktop to play NFSC it starts to kinda load , a black screen comes on and within seconds it kicks me out saying
"NFSC.exe encountered a problem and needs to close..."
i have got a Packard Bell Easynote R1938 with
Genuine Windows® XP Pro with Intel® Celeron® M 380 , 1024MB DDR 80GB , TFT 15,4 and resolution 1280x800 and graphics of VIA PN 800...
Anyway i cant understand whats the problem ...soo can anybody help me..?
please. -
plays fine with the specs in my sig
-
it should play with mine also but i dont know whats wrong ...
-
how do i start the game in a safe mode? (I mean, the game freazes while loading)? Is there any other option? Please, need your help!
-
If you have problem start the game then try nfsc addon mod so you can run the demo in a 'window'. I have no idea it will help or not but you can try.
Don't forget to edit addon.ini with notepad! -
Before try this game, don't forget to check system requirement for this game.

I managed to successfully install NFSC, but I also get the black screen and then the blue screen and my laptop reboots itself. My specs are:
Intel Duo Centrino 1.83
ATI Mobility Radeon X1600
512 RAM
shoud be enough to at least allow me to check out the game isn't it? -
OK, make sure to uncheck the 'Reduce DVI frequency' under 'Digital Flat Panel Settings' and PowerMizer is set at MAX. If you overclock the graphic card then make sure that it very stable. Install the lestest video card driver.
