Need Game Recommendation

Ok, so I'm a brand new PC gamer. Been playing on consoles for years, but never got into PC games much. Just bought an Envy 15 and I'm looking for games to play.

Assume I've never played a PC game in my life... its true other than Counter Strike, Unreal, and Quake.

Please list some must play games for me. I like all genres.

lol i thought this would be an easy thread to get responses on... Im just looking for some good games to play on pc. Im sure there are a ton I've missed out on over the years.

 

There sure are. But all can easily be found by using the SEARCH function. Lots of lists of recommended PC games abound in response to OP's just like yourself.

Since you mentioned Counter Strike why not just go to Steam and download Valve's entire 'Orange Box' which should keep you busy for a long while.

 

Well if you like shooting games with a really good story then you cant go wrong with Mass Effect 1 and 2. Both are really good games.

i second the Mass Effect series.

if you like fast paced FPS with mmo tactics and mechanics, pick up Global Agenda off steam - i think there is even a free trial to use.

the game has gone under MANY improvements since its release in February - they're currently adding 32vs32 player, an open world map environment for pvp/pve questable features. the whole UI is going under change, and many new weapons and equipment features are being added.

i would say check out the free trial on steam... wouldn't hurt

 

Mass effect 1 and 2, dragon age origins and awakening expansion pack (game of the year 2009 if I'm not mistaken), assassin's creed II (1st one sucks), batman arkham asylum, dirt 2

 

You NEED to try Crysis, Crysis - Warhead, Fuels of War, battlefield 2 & 2142. You might want to start finishing crysis because crysis 2 is going to be released in the summer, i think

 

orange box and do the entire half life series then move on to C&C generals for some good old rts and such.

and fps to taste, cod and BF series are good but can be overplayed.

i would also recommend a torchlight like game to you for some dungeon crawling action

 

try Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 6 Modern Warfare 2.. nice story and multiplayer... Mass Effect is quite good.. U might want to consider Medal of Honor series for world war 2 shooter... Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway is quite nice.. Battelfield Bad Company 2 is one u should get...

 

I would play games you don't play on Console. See what advantages there are compared to console and why people play on PC still despite the lack of support from developers...

For turn based game Civilization IV.

For RTS games I'd try Red Alert 3 since it's just plain fun and it's great for people new to PC RTS games.

Play Warcraft 3 or Starcraft (old but classic) for some Blizzard RTS.

Warhammer preceded Warcraft on board game, check out their PC Games, Warhammer 40K.

For some interesting games, Black and White gets my vote.

MMORPG, hmm check out Allods Online since it's free. WoW, Warhammer or others would be good if you want pay, they all have trial periods also.

Play Unreal Tournament, see what hectic, FPS gaming is like. See what twitch, reflex FPS really means...
