I need a video card for my Gateway M-6816 laptop. I play Counter-strike: Source and obviously need a good PC/laptop to play it. I bought this gateway thinking it had all that i need, but i neglected to see the fact that it had 384mb of memory SHARED.

you cant change it, its integrated, sorry!
a new notebook is the only way. -
Its impossible to add / remove graphic cards (Theres few exceptions which doesn't apply to cheap brands like Gateway,Compaq,HP,dell,ect...)

Wow, are you serious? I just bought this laptop specifically for CSS. And now i still cant even play it with this. There has to be SOME way...
Is there at least a way to make CSS playable. Thats all i want... -
Not likely. You bought Intel Integrated graphics. Perhaps next time you should read up on your specific components instead of looking just at the big shiny numbers. If it's been said once, it's been said a thousand times: if gaming is at all a priority, don't buy Intel integrated graphics! I had a thread stickied for this very reason. There is another thread, that is still stickied, that says the same thing in it in several places. It's all over the internet. Research, then buy. SHop around. That's rule number one for any large-scale purchase. If you didn't follow it, then Caveat emptor.
Lecture aside, try turning every setting (especially resolution!) all the way down and running in Direct X 7.0 mode (add launch parameter "-dxlevel 70"). Also go to Intel's web site and get the latest drivers for the X3100. CS:S should be at least somewhat playable, though there are ample reports of choppiness and massive graphical corruption. -
Need GfxCard for laptop that can play CSS all the way.
