I believe BF2 only supports 60hz, and some screens work @59hz under Vista. Google "BF2 60hz vista" and you should find plenty of cases :)

Your firewall is probably blocking punkbuster. Unlock it, make sure you are on an administrator account.

    BF2 works fine on 64bit. :)

right click on BF2 link, and Run As Administrator.

I got BF2 to work in vista by going to the executable file for the game wherever it was installed, most likely EA Games under Program Files, and right clicked and ran as an administrator like Gophn did.

you dont need to run it as an admin...
what you need to do is edit the file Video.con
    under Documents/Battlefield 2/Profiles/Default

theres a small section where it states the resolution...
leave it at 1024x768 since its default
and match the refresh rate with that of your monitor...

mine, for example has a 63hz refresh rate, so i edited the file and it looks like this

    VideoSettings.setResolution 1024x768@63Hz

    Hope it helps!

EDIT: oh but nvm, you seem to boot the game correctly, sorry, my mistake...
then yes, right click and run as administrator, or even edit the properties so it always runs in admin mode, and XPSP2 compatibility....
