I have a gtx 765m which I bought on ebay to replace my (now dead) gtx 560m. I accidentally flashed the wrong vbios, and upon restarting the computer it would not post. I am getting an 8 beep post and I have read in some places that it is not fatal. Also for some reason, even before I flashed wrong vbios, using switchable graphics would cause pc to hang in bios loading screen. I am using Alienware M17X R3.

    Please help!

I have decided not to do that and would like to find a better option, sorry.

I really need help to start the pc with igp and gtx 765m at the same time so I can properly flash my backup rom (as in, help me get switchable gfx working).

I am also having problems getting my blind-flashing to work because I am not sure if it's not getting past post or an error is occurring in nvflash.

I also can boot if I remove the gpu, switch primary display to integrated graphics, and put back the gpu. However, I dont see the gpu under the "display adapters" tab in the device manager.

does it show in the list display adapters when you attempt to flash? If it does then you should be able to flash it regardless of it shows in the device manager. when i switch to integrated graphics it doesn't list my video cards in the device manger either

Nvflash cant find any nvidia adapters.

Is it possible to fix it if I know which pcie port it is?

without it being detected and the profile being loaded that probably wont work. Is there a possibility that the card is faulty or installed incorrectly?

Stopped working after I restarted the computer after the flash, I'm sure it was installed correctly.

I read somewhere that nvflash had a version that allowed for no nvidia adapter override, not sure if that's true.

I got the switchable graphics to work again, after I replaced my old dell charger which had a problem with letting my system recognize it as a dell charger, causing reduced power output.

However, nvflash still can't find my gpu. What does the --directpci command do? Does it directly update through a given PCI slot?

EDIT: Also, almost forgot to mention that using PEG only (igfx/sg turned off) will now cause 6 beep. I tried to blind flash, but it didn't seem to work so I assume it still won't POST. Also, for some reason, graphics card seems to be warm.

What brand is the 765m? And if it was installed correctly then you should take into account the possibility that the card itself is damaged. Where did you buy the card?

The old vbios that I backed up says its Nvidia, I also doubt the card was damaged as I already mentioned that it was working before the flash. Bought card on ebay, which is one of the few places you can buy a mobile gfx card.

Never mind, the only reason SG worked was because I seated it wrong, now it's back to SG freeze and 8 beep no-post (except when I set it to IGP or remove gpu).
