    Hi all,

ok, as most of you probably know, CnC3 will be amongst us very soon, this is my problem:

im a student who needs a laptop.
    my budget is £800-£900.
the only game im gonna play on my laptop is CnC3! (everything else ill do on pc)

----> i want a laptop that will be able to play CnC3 on its full settings and the game needs to run smooth.

what i have in mind: Dell Inspiron 9400
    - Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T5600 (1.83 GHz, 2 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB)
    - 1024MB 533MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x512)
    - 256MB DDR3 nVidia® GeForce™ Go 7900 graphics card
+ (other standard features, 120GB HD, DVD rewriter etc...)

will it do it? (play CnC3 on full settings, running smooth)

btw, is the £105 worth the upgrade from 17" Wide Screen WXGA (1440x900) TFT Display --> to 17" UltraSharp™ Wide Screen WUXGA (1920x1200) TFT Display with TrueLife™.

    thx in advance.

Yes 7900 will run it on max. 7600 will probably run it on max. And if it is anything like BFME:2 then a 7400 might be able to max it out.

No that price wasn't worth the upgrade at all. Don't buy dell if you live in the UK its really overpriced there. Take a look at the fujitsu-siemens computers or this site www.zepto.com

You should probably write out what CnC3 stands for. Took me a few seconds to figure out it was Command and Conquer 3 (well I think that's what it is anyway).

The system requirments for it are as follows:
The Dell Inspiron 9400 you mentioned above should be able to run this game smoothly.

oh yeh, i forgot to mention, the developers said in a podcast that if you could run Battle for middle Earth 2, you would have no probs running Command and Conquer 3, the thing is i dont have BFME:II neither a laptop yet to test it out on, so will the spec above (my original post) run on max AND run it smooth at the same time?

    thx.

sorry, one more thing: is it worth getting 2GB of RAM or is 1 GB sufficient?

Only if you have the money.
    It can be upgraded later.
However, 2Gb is a good investment, I wish I had gone for it now.
2Gb is really useful for heavy gamers and people who do a lot of video or photo editing. I would really like 2Gb for BF2142, but that's beside the point.
It's worth it if you think you'll need it.

CnC3 should run fine with 1GB of RAM.
