I am on the road a lot, and I need a good game for road trips. Not looking for an FPS. But something with great re-playability!

Currently I'm looking at Civilization 4, Age of Empire 3... any good recommendations?

Civ 4 is probably the most addictive game I have ever played. I highly recommend it, along with its two expansions.

I've been playing Command And Conquer Red Alert 2 religiously since it came out in 2000. It's probably the first game I really played a lot of, and it runs great on pretty much any system.

You can get it used in gamestops, etc, for under 5 bucks somtimes, Wal-Mart also sells the Westwood Battle Chest for like 20 bucks. Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge (the expansion pack) for the win!

Dawn of War or Warcraft 3, or if your laptop is capable of it, Company of Heroes. All have good flexible quick play without a need for long term commitment. Plus there are many mods that can change up the game a fair amount, especially with DoW. Also take a look at the Total War titles. All pretty cheap these days too.

Check out Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it should be great for road trips. If you're near wifi a lot or if you have a network card, look into starting a MMORPG like World of Warcraft or Age of Conan.

If you can get online you may be able to develop a very unhealthy addiction to World in Conflict multiplayer. I know I sure have. I'm not even sure I enjoy playing anymore I just know I have to achieve the next rank...and then the next. Very vicious cycle.

Warcraft 3, doesnt take a lot of power to run, and does not take a super fast internet connection to play online.

Tons of replay with custom games, but the game selection has really dimmed down from what it used to be it looks like last time I went online.

An odd one but SimCity 4 Deluxe. Is old and can be modded to run widescreen but great replayability

I have to disagree on CoH. That game can get extremely deep and battles can last HOURS if you're playing against evenly matched opponents online.

But if you're on a road trip, chances are you won't have online connectivity, so it's still a good RTS to kill time with :p.

In terms of a strictly single player experience, I'd say CoH over DoW and WC3. But all three games are highly replayable when brought onto the online stage ;).

Or, if you'll be travelling on something like a car (a.k.a. no where to use a mouse), then obviously you'd better go with something that's turn based and not real time, thus Civ 4.

    But the choice it yours!

u should give Titan Quest a try. its kinda like the Diablo series but with alot better graphics. gets a little repetitive but if u like to see ur character advance then u will get hooked. usually runs about 20 bucks retail but i think its dropped in price quite a bit.

if your "on the road" means start/stop playing anytime you want to, i suggest sticking with turn based strategy games like Civilization series and Heroes of Might and Magic series.

Yup, I suggest the Civ IV series since you are already considering it.
