Need advise on a game..been out for a while

Been out of the scene for a while but im looking for a good FPS or am open to other cool games(non rpg)

-Games i own and have dominated

--Far Cry (best gameplay and overall graphics)
--HL2 (best storyline and good gameplay)
--Doom 3 (Its doom whats not to love)
--FEAR (another awsome fps and storyline)
--Hitman 2 (dont really like)
--Quke 4 (pretty fun and online play is cool)
--Painkiller (thats right im going old school..sweet for its time)

Any suggestions on a great game i should pick up? Any new good ones out?

-Ive played PREY demo
-Ive heard BF1942? is good
-Heard stalkers good but has problems

I'd suggest Counter Strike Source.

Or you want to go old school and play quite possibly the best tactical FPS ever created: Rogue Spear. Last time I heard the makers of Rogue Spear, due to its huge success, allow it to be downloaded legally from whoever. Check out torrents.

 

This game greatly benefits from 2GB of RAM or more.

Which is better battlefield2 or 2142? I really like creepy games like fear and doom3 thats why i suggested stalker

 

I prefer BF2 over BF2142 and you would probably like rainbow six vegas.

 

Is crysis out? If it is can i even play it? Isnt it DX10?

 

I didn't like Rainbow Six Vegas all that much. A lot of the tactical aspects that came from RS and GS seemingly have vanished. RSV is now a spray and pray game in many aspects.

 

BioShock's supposed to be kick @$$ and pretty creepy.

 

I know it is an old game buy I love the original Call of Duty. It is actually pretty hard and I haven't been able to beat the expansions discs. Also there are still a few good servers to play on.

I just picked up stalker and I must say I am really getting into it, it does have problems, but some were addressed in the first patch.

No it isn't out yet. It is DX10, and you will be able to play it with a DX9 card. Just like sometime you can play a DX9 game in DX8 mode.

Agreed, all the CoD's were great. I also enjoyed the second one.

Chronicles of Riddick Escape from Butchers Bay

also, Call of Duty 1 and 2 are awesome
Rainbow Six Vegas is probably my favorite multiplayer game right now

If you like RTS, i really like the gameplay offered by Lord of the Rings BFME 2
and also Rise of Nations Rise of Legends

 

Rise of Nations is a great RTS. I was addicted to that one for a while.

Star Wars BattleFront II (an older title) may also be worth checking out.

 

rainbow six vagas was awsome.
stalker is awsomer still. definantly worth playing.

 

i second escape from butcher bay
it was made in 2005 and the graphics are better than most games out today
not to mention its incredibly fun

Also about FarCry.....I heard theres "extras" or of the such? whats that about? Also is there an expansion pack or something for farcry? Love that game

 

Stalker if you want a long game with lots of options & open ended feeling.

COD 2 if a WW2 buff and likes guns..

Chronicles of Riddick if you like a story based game. Good voice acting from Vin Diesel but graphics a lil older..

Me, i would go with Stalker anytime of the three!

So from what ive read for STALKER...and with my specs on my MSI 1039..i should turn on static lighting

what about render objects dynamic lighting? or any others? what should i set things up as for optimal performance considering my specs below? last thing i want is a laggy game or poor graphics or the worst...the blue screen of death!!!

Best buy didnt have stalker on the shelf so i got Rainow Six Vegas

 

Rainbow Six Vegas blows on my 1039..

whole game is slow and laggy and graphics blow even at 800X600 res

umm have you played escape from butcher bay on max settings ? it has far better looking graphics imo

you shoud've asked first vegas is one of the most poorly coded/unoptimized pos ports ever

return it at once

 

get escape from butchers bay.... the graphics are better than many shooters out today and plays smooth maxed out at 1280x1024 (no AA) on my desktop radeon 9800 PRO

yeah, very sweet game! i'm about halfway through right now and my roommate who does not game but watches me play everyday even said "wow what game is this, the graphics are really good!"

id say on par with half life 2 if not better! very underated game

 

Best Buy wont take back Vegas...i opened it and tryed to take it back an hr after i bought it saying my specs on my laptop wont run it well (which actually they work fine now after i tweaked) and she refused even a in store credit
