Hey guys. I want to get an RTS and I need suggestions. I just got a new pc so I would pefer to get somthing newer and good looking. I want somthing with a good size multiplayer community. I also want somthing where you have to do some sort of resource management/gathering. Thanks.

    Hibernate until Starcraft 2 :p

I also like Warcraft 3, even if you get done or bord with the standard game it has unlimited custom games that are user created to expand the single game into hundreds of other games.

^^ That has zero resource mgmt.

    From the DoW wiki:

No not like mgmt you get in something like Stronghold Crusader but it does exist in another form.

Wasn't that the AOE 2 engine-based Star Wars RTS?

I'm a fan of Empire at War myself.

The AOE games also have fair bit of resource management involved.

Dwarf Fortress, looks can be deceiving. Can become an intense game with many things to juggle at one time. Plus you will always be learning new things. There is one guy on Youtube who has a great tutorial for it, and really long to.

Cant believe no one recommended Company of Heroes.....you can get the trilogy pack for a very reasonable price at the moment, the game has a fantastic single player campaign and multiplayer is lively and full of fun.

Have you heard of the online game called Savage/Savage 2, I heard it was good.

Could try it if you want

It's an RPG + FPS + RTS all rolled into one!

Best RTS to come out in a long time: Sins of a Solar Empire + Entrenchment expansion.

You'll require two things to play this game:

    • A love for sci-fi
    • An open mind to sandbox-type gameplay

I think some companies have an option for ordering a disc if yours is previously scratched, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Second for Supreme Commander. Get the Forged Alliance stand alone expansion, still has a good community.

I agree. I was shocked nobody said Company of Heroes. Amazing amazing game. It'll utilize your new system specs, and can be had on Steam for a reasonable price ($19.99 for the original and first expansion). The first expansion is supposed to be very good, while the second expansion is not that great.

I want a game that is like the sims where you have to build a working economy and town, but also like AOE 2 where you build a military and walls and castles and that fun stuff.
