Alright I'm bored and need to find a new game, not sure on what type I want to play.
I generally like older games (2003 and older) and don't care about graphics as much as long as it isn't like tic-tac-toe or something. Some games I have enjoyed:
-(.DOS) King's Quests (all of them)
-Robin Hood (.DOS version)
-Age of Empires I and II
-EverQuest (quit when it started to suck)
-Deus Ex
-Jazz the Jackrabbit 2
-Diablo 2
I generally like any game as long as it's fun. I wouldn't mind running a .DOS emulator if the game is good quality. I generally like RPGs, but RTSs are fun and shooters are okay too as long as there is decent storyline.
-
- Knights of the Old Republic I and II
- Torchlight (like Diablo 2) will run great on your HD 3200
- Sam & Max Episodes
- No One Lives Forever 1 and 2
- Deus Ex 2
- Rise of Nations (similar to Age of Empires)
- Empire Earth 2 (similar to Age of Empires as well)
- Monkey Island rerelease (like Kings Quest type games)
I'll think of more, my 2 year old is trying to bite me... -
I have yet to play Deus Ex all the way through, I should probably get on that.
-
I haven't either.
I've gotten to the last part where you have three choices on how the game ends twice, and each time I either have to reformat my computer or my hard drive crashed... so I pretty much have beaten it.
Thanks for the suggestion. Rep has been added. -

Blood.
Doom (all of them).

Metal gear solid. -
Just take a stroll over to gog.com and you'll find plenty to keep you occupied for a long time and for cheap too. Most are classic (i.e. 5+ years old) PC games.
-
Thanks! Blood looks like an interesting game...

ive spent countless hours on civilization iv. if you are unfamiliar its turn-based strategy as opposed to real-time strategy. if you are interested, the "beyond the sword" expansion is worth getting.

SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
Going a bit nostalgic, I always found Alpha Centauri to be fascinating. Turn based strategy with all kinds of planet terraforming and battles.
Armed and Dangerous was pretty fun too, though I only played it on console. I loved the teacup robot. -
The longest journey - same genre as king's quest

A hearty second for gog.com, they have some excellent games at awesome prices.
And since you mention specifically RPG and RTS (more because of the latter), I'd throw out the name of one of my all-time favorites, Dungeon Keeper. The first one, not so much the second.
-Edit-
Also, if you haven't played any of the Infinity Engine games... you can't consider yourself a true fan of the RPG genre until you've played Baldur's Gate (and series), Icewind Dale, or my personal favorite, Planescape: Torment. And if you like games with good storylines... -

Just go to coolrom.com and download lots of old school console games. My favorite way to get around the 'older games' addiction.
-
Another question:
for running .DOS games with Windows 7, would you guys recommend using .DOSBox or running a Virtual Machine and installing Windows 98? I think I have an old Windows 98 disc lying around somewhere.
If the latter is better, would you recommend Virtual PC or VMWare? -
DosBox has worked fine for all my purposes. On my reeeally old machine, some programs were system intensive enough to slow down a little bit, and I have no idea if a virtual machine would have improved that. But most systems should have no problem.

Wolf3D! and definitely get total annihilation like someone else said. Its So much funner than supreme commander is.

Runs great on Windows 7 x64 with Intel GMA 4500m.
But if you have not yet tried Beyond Good & Evil i recommend that too.
Does have some compatability issues with never Nvidia hardware and maybe also Windows 7, but that can be easily fixed with workarounds. (Google it. xD ) -

surprised no one has mentioned this but what about the total war series?
IMHO one of the best strategy game series (Empire was a bit of a flop though)
Rome:total war
Medieval 2:Total war
Empire:total war-bit of a letdown but fun nonetheless
Highly recommend Rome, guarantee you will but countless hours into that. -
Mount and blade great game with TONS of mods. RPG game where you control your own character in battle, recruit your armies, give commands to you army in battle, hire mercs, and etc. The mods just make the game more awesome. there's also a sequel coming out this year with MP. its still fun without mp though. You can try the free trial and play until you get to lvl7. I know it sounds like you can do it in 5min but you really can't unless you cheat which i do NOT recommend

Thund3rball I dont know, I'm guessing
Brain Lord
Illusion of Gaia (Illusion of Time in Europe)
I think I need to play them NOW.
Need game suggestions (older games recommended)
