Ok, I realize that there are a bunch of other threads on this topic already, but I am not a big computer guy and they are not helping me get new drivers installed.

I just bought myself a Toshiba U300-NS5, and it came with the Intel mobile GM965 chipset with the X3100 graphics media accelerator. The version of the driver it has right now is 7.14.10.1263. The newest one on the intel site available for download is 7.14.10.1283 as far as I can tell, and there is also the Beta driver for HW and T&L. My question is, do I need these drivers from the Intel site? I have no games yet but will soon be buying CS:S and DoD:S, maybe Battlefield 1942, and Age of Empires 3. And also, should I download the Beta driver or wait for the real thing. I am running Windowns Vista Home Premium 32bit.

Now, I have tried downloading the newer driver, and I get the error message that others have gotten "This software cannot be validated on this computer. Setup will now exit." Or something like that. I read over the way around this as specified in the other threads but Im stuck right away. I download the .exe file, and when I double-click it it does not ask me where I would like to extract the files to or anything, it just runs into the setup, says it is extracting some files, then gives me the error message. Like I said, Im no computer guy, I need some simplified help with this. I realize this is a pain, but any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Instead of running the .exe by double clicking it try right clicking it and extracting the files from it with a program such as WinRAR.(you will have to download this before hand) or any other program that extracts files from archives. This will put the necessary files into a directory, and then you can follow the instructions in the driver readme to manually set to the new driver.

As the production level XP driver with Vertex Shader 3 and T&L support is out, I would wait for the Vista version which hopefully will be out soon too.

Can someone point me in the direction of where I could find the instructions for manually installing the drivers? Toshiba said that driver support for intel X3100 drivers would probably not work because of the toshiba chipset. I dont know what the hell they were talking about, I thought the X3100 was just an X3100 I didnt think the manufacturer made any changes to it
