Need help buying a new laptop

Hello all I have recently decided to purchase a laptop computer and I have a very tight budget because i will start working this year. My parents have offered to pay for it and since I will have to pay them back I went around the net searching for cheaper laptops that suites my needs but i need help. I will basically need a laptop that I could play world of warcraft on, listen to music on itunes or zune, and surf the net (possibly simultaneously) ^.^ I prefer at least a 14 in screen and do not mind using windows xp (i heard it is better than vista) I would also like this laptop to last me at least 2 years.
P.S. I do have a basic understanding of processors, ram, video cards and whatnot...what i really need to know is the minimum needed to run what i listed previously smoothly at max or near max settings. (i understand that intel core 2 quad technology is not necessary for my needs) Thanks a lot.
