I am trying to run Fifa 2006 on my inspiron 9300, but the game crashes to desktop just before loading(after choosing line-ups). Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be..I thought my laptop should be able to eat this game. Here's the config: P-M 1.73, 1.25Gb RAM, Go6800 256MB.

Ok when I first installed the game the menu was buggy, the selector randomly moved around..I downloaded the official patch that fixes USB keyboard issues and it worked fine(i guess USB mouse is also an issue). But then now the game crashes as soon as the loading splashscreen appears. I installed the Xtreme-G drivers for my card. Could that be a problem or is it specific to my DVD?

Ive been having the same problem on my acer aspire 1642. The problem seems to lie within the graphics... I tried to change the Intel 3D settings to default and it worked but the graphhics were real bad...When i put the 3D settings back to better settings but again the game crashes during loading again. No songs are playing in the menu...The only time they worked is when i suceeded to play...please help me...

I had a slightly different problem, Fifa was running abominably slow when it shouldn't. To my surprise, uninstalling Java solved the problem...
I don't know if this will help any of you

hmm....looks like a there is a serious glitch in the game.

Try google Fifa 2006 for some patches or try EA support.

It can't really be driver or hardware problem as 3 people are having the same problem which is rather unlikely. When I googled up this issue, at least 10 other people had the same problem.

Since I could not find any patches on google, I recommend you give the game back for a refund.

i had that problem try with this:
-click start and go to run...
    -in run... type dxdiag
-go to sound and in hardware sound acceleration move it down to basic acceleration and then click close
    -run the game

Hello there... I also have a problem with fifa2006 and world cup 2006.

When I install the games and then inmediatly play they run great, perfect, magnifico!!!

But when I restart windows the games run pretty crappy, a bit choppy, and does it at any resolution and low/high details.

I tried different drivers, kill all the possible processes.

I reinstalled them and work perfectly until restart or shutdown. I have no idea what happens... It's really a pain in the ass reinstalling everytime I want to play...

    Any ideas?

    Thank you guys

By the way, my specs are: Dell M1710, T2500, Geforce Go 7900GS, 2GB RAM, 100GB HD 7200RPM

Once I've installed the game If I play, then exit the game, do other tasks in windows, and then play again (without rebooting or shutting down) the game plays great. The crappy gaming comes after loading windows again, at every resolution and graphics details, it runs the same way... that doesn't many sense to me.

Fifa and world cup 2006 are the is the only "new games" I have, the oldies run just fine. I'll definitely borrow another new game from a friend and try it to see what happens.

Another thing to mention it's that I changed in power management options the power profile to be "desktop" while on AC, and My PC reports always 2Ghz CPU instead of 999Mhz as it did it when it was on "laptop" profile.

If you or any of you have a logical reason why a game you have just installed runs fine and when reloading windows not! I can't find any.

    Thank you guys!
