Hey, I ve got a some questions. Right now I have a nvidia 6150. I know it isnt superpowerful for games but the laptop was given to me. Anyways, I went to the systemrequirementslab.com page to see if some games would run on my laptop. It said a couple wouldn't only because I have 64 video memory and they require 128. So finally figured out how to go into the BIOS thing and change the video memory to 128 on my laptop. When I went back to the site and tried the same games it still said I don't have enough video memory, I have 128 of the 128 required. So is it just the site or will the games not work?
My next question is: Generally speaking, if I barely meet the minimum requirements for the video memory and cpu, will the game be so bad that it isnt really enjoyable/playable? I dont care much for eye candy, so turning down stuff doesnt bother me, I just want it to run smoothly.
Question 3. Just for fun I tried to see if oblivion would run my laptop through that website. I know it wouldn't with this video card, but it also said that oblivion wouldnt work because I have vista. Basically, will oblivion not work on vista? Along with that I see alot of games that have increased minimums for vista (ram, cpu speed, etc). overall would I be fine if I got xp instead on a new laptop?
My next question is somewhat of a hardware question. If a game calls for a certain minimum processor speed, can I use a duo core if it is less than what is required. Example, a game calls for a minimum of 2.0, but will a 1.8 duo work just as well or better? I dunno if this is a stupid question but someone told me that games only run off of 1 core on laptops.
Finally, I have a 160 gig harddrive, but the computer tells me straight out of the box I have 120 of 140 available. Wheres the other 20 gigs and does vista take up 20 gigs worth of memory?
I know its a lot but I like learning all I can, thanks.

Oh yea heres the system. AMD duo 1.7, vista, nvidia 6150, 160gig harddrive, 2 gig ram

A duo core is much more powerful and efficient than a single core, so yes. The hd has a formatted capacity around ~140 gigs, and vista along with preinstalled bloatware (norton, etc) can take up the other 20. I really, really, really, really doubt oblivion can play at any level on a 6150. And The Video mem in the bios takes it from the regular ram, its not as fast as dedicated ram. Older game (3+ years) might work at decent settings.
