I just got an Inspiron 1520 with a Core 2 duo @ 2 GHz, 1 gig of ddr2 667 (I'll be getting another), an 8600m gt, and windows xp 32 bit. First I tried to run the demo at 1024 x 768 with a mix of medium-high (shaders high, textures high, objects were forced to low since I only have a gig of ram, post-processing low, everything else medium), but I got tons of weird yellow artifacting during the first cutscene. I changed it to 800x600 with 2xAA and it ran great, but there was still occasional artifacting (a few random objects were yellow). But then when I reached the part where you have to destroy the jammer at sunrise my framerate dropped like crazy, which I assume is from having shaders on high during the day. I changed shaders to medium and raised a bunch of stuff to high, and it ran smoothly again. BUT, I got a really weird, game-destroying artifact where everything except the sky, water, and ground turned into a near-invisible silhouette. Also, I should note that throughout the demo the image quality was pretty poor no matter what the settings. I think enabling Edge AA would have helped that a lot, but I'm not sure how to do it.
The first thing I want to do is get new xp 32-bit drivers for my 8600m gt. I have no idea which drivers to use, or which ones support my card or how to get a modded inf to make the driver support the card.
Then I want to OC my card. I downloaded rivatuner, but I have no idea how to OC with it. I also might download ATI Tool for its anti-artifacting abilities.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you.

Id reccomend not OCing your card if you are experiencing artifacts
and what driver version are you running currently? -
Whatever came with it. i looked at it briefly and it was pretty old, definitely a probable cause for the artifacts. And yeah, you might be right about OCing, it was running really hot while I was playing. I'll try some light OCing anyway, just to see if it still works and boosts performance.
So, how do you OC with rivatuner and what drivers should I download? And don't tell me to go to laptopvideo2go, I want a specific driver number and where I can download it with any INFs I might need. -
A quick google only turned up

I think Chaz is a pretty cool guy. Eh, helps n00bs and doesn't afraid of anything.

I have nearly the same set up, but with Vista 32-bit instead of XP. I run no AA, 1440x900, all setting medium except Shaders which are low. Drivers 169.09 at www.laptopvideo2go.com . RivaTuner 2.06 . Go to the Riva Tuner site and find a link to "RivaTuner 2_0 Guide at _ Derek’s Blog" and follow the "Creating Overclocking Profiles" instructions. Don't worry about the fan stuff because you can't control it anyway (the PC takes care of it). I'm running my clock speeds at 625/1250/550 (the real speeds are 675/1350/550 though). Even if you don't overclock you should be able to run most of the same setting with 1280x800 resolution.
