Vanguard is a very system intensive game...
But I don't want it to be a 17er... I was nearly dead set on the 1520, but the size has me hesitating... 7.4 pounds is awefully heavy considering I'm going from 4.8 pounds... Anyone have any recommendations??
Thanks for any advice.

please fill out the faq and then post this in the correct section which would be...
''What notebook should I buy?'' -
Did that already... but all I got was a argument between a few people about the sager vs. the compal. Honestly, I don't like either of those laptops compared to the 1520. But I was hoping that someone here had any insight on whether or not a Geforce 8400 GS would even play the game at all, or if I have to step up to a 8600 GS/GT.

Could you give us the system requirements please? The 8400M-GS can play any game out there right now - however it is not a particularly strong card so you will have to play many of the newer games at reduced settings.

Highly suggest an 8600m GT for it. Played it on my desktop (athlon 64 2.2ghz 2gig ram x1950pro) and it was still laggy and skippy.
My fear for you is how will it run on vista if it is so slow on XP can't imagine how Vista will take it. As i've noticed with Vista, some games run a little better, others run horribly slower.
So for good Vanguard I say spare no expense (unless something crazy like 4gig of ram or something). Good luck and let us know what you choose and how it runs it! -
Well I've played Vanguard on a Mobility Radeon 9600 Pro. Every setting was at the lowest it could go of course. I figure an 8400 could play it at mid settings reasonably well.

Well, I played it on my desktop w/ a 7800GT on the moderate quality setting and it didn't do half bad. I then increased my vid card to an 8800GTS and I had the same framerates as before but I was able to increase the quality to Ultra-High. Strangely enough however is the fact that regardless of which vid card is handling the duties, I have studdering problems whenever I go into towns or whatnot. I firmly believe that the graphic card is not the answer to this issue, and that it could be either my slow 4 yr old HD, or my 2.6 ghz Opteron... Thanks for the information Falcore, and thanks for the advice Vaath.
I wish that someone w/ a 8400M could chime in.... Of course with the abborantly low number of subcribers, I doubt there are too many people with an 8400m that even play.
Need something to play Vanguard SOH on...
