Good morning, good afternoon, good evening everyone. I am here with another request... I need more games. This time around, I need to find a game or two that's not only for myself, but people in my dorm. The people we're talking about here are not game experts or addicts, they just sometimes drop by my room, and want to play some games. They all LOVE GTA San Andreas and Need For Speed Prostreet (demo). We're talking about games that are not solely story-based. For example, Rainbow Six Vegas is good - it has a good storyline which I can play in my own time, and there are the shoot'em up or snipe them down levels - but apparently it is too hard for most people.

I'm looking for a game that's easy to learn and somewhat easy to play (easy to play as in less than quarter of the keys on the keyboard are used). Here are what I currently have...

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas - everyone's favorite, it's really fun to shoot cops and then go on a high speed highway chase.

Need For Speed Prostreet - good racing game, everyone loves it, especially when the subwoofer is cranked all the way up. But I have yet to beat the only demo mission. This is a game I probably will not buy because it's too hard for me. But I still might get it just for the graphics (I can run it smoothly with everything on highest), I haven't decided. Do you get to modify and or buy cars from money earned from races?

Super Mash Bros (N64) - everyone loves it, it's just fifteen minutes of pure bliss then it gets old.

Rainbow Six Vegas - I'm the only one who wants to, or knows how to play this...

Bioshock - Same as Rainbow Six, I'm the only one who plays it, but I uninstalled it after playing for three hours because a. it was creepy to play at night and b. I had a feeling that the game requires a lot of continues hours of play, which is what a college student like me don't have.

Medieval II Total War - I'm the only one who plays this, mainly because most people can't get much enjoyment just playing one custom battle. And because you need to know a lot about the units and terrain. People have a tendency to like games where you don't have to plan or think as much.

Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within - I really hated the game but felt that beating it was my duty (I never beat it). There are a few people who like it, but most people just get pissed off after a while. It'll be better if it's a bit more action oriented.

Other RTS are not liked by many. Like Total War games, they don't want to have to think or plan too much.

Well, given the influx of games right now, I doubt you'll be hard pressed to find a good game.

    A short list:
    The Orange Box
    Call of Duty 4
    Gears of War
    Crysis

What exactly is the Orange Box?
Isn't Gears of War similar to Rainbow Six Vegas?

Is Team Fortress only multiplayer or does it have single player story-based stuff too?

The Worms series is really old but it's not difficult to pick up. Played worms 2 back in school together with others and it was always a good way to kill time.

Haha Worms, I remember playing that... I think I might get Portal and maybe Need For Speed Prostreet (if not then Carbon). I'm going to see if I could get Gears of War for Thanksgiving.

Just a question. With my current laptop set up (see signature), I can only run Rainbow Six Vegas on lowest resolution and medium setting, but my specs exceed the requirements by quite a bit. Why is this?
Do you think it'll be the same for Gears of War? I want to at least be able to run it on 1280x800 without having the frames drop to under 15...

From what was said in the yougamers the gears of war uses a pc optimized version of the unreal 3 engine, so it might run way better than rainbow six. Although I'm yet to play both games

I got ProStreet. The game would be nothing if it wasn't for the graphics, but it's fun... who doesn't like to race and or watch a Porsche fall into pieces and spend 80 grand fixing it?

I'm having a hard time deciding whether to get Gears or Crysis. Which has those shoot them up modes that's not story based? Which has better multiplayer? (Is Gears ONLY multiplayer?) At what setting will I be able to run Crysis?

    *sigh*

No Crysis for me. I downloaded the demo for that game last night (took less than an hour!) and tried to run the game on medium, the frame rates were unbelievably low. Then I tried to run the game with everything on low, and it crashed 2 minutes into the game... and my computer was heating up like a radiator. =(

Have you tried F.E.A.R.? Awesome game, especially if you turn off all the lights, turn up the volume and play the game at around 12-2 AM. ;)

BTW, you can download the multiplayer for free, but it won't be as scary as the single player mode.

Haha scary games... I remember playing Doom 3 late at night / early in the morning. I hated it though because a shell in an imp's head does as much damage as a shell in an imp's knee....

FEAR Multiplayer is free? Is it something like World of Warcraft where you have to pay every month to play it?

    Another question...

HL2 vs. HL2 Ep 1 vs. Ep 2 vs. Doom 3 vs. CoD 4 vs. FEAR

OK, we're only talking about single player here. Other than the story/campaign, are there random shoot-em-up maps (like the Terrorist Hunt in R6Vegas)?
Is HL2 and HL2 Ep1 the same thing?
Out of the above, which has the best graphics?
    Which has a medium-paced multiplayer?

I don't own any of the above but what I do know is that CoD4 is the newest on the list and also the best looking.

I don't think FPS multiplayer can ever be described as medium-paced, although I think FEAR might have the slowest pace because of the game nature.

Is HL2 and HL2 Ep1 the same thing? no different ones the first is a full game the second an expansion(every episode 4-5 gaming hours)

SWAT 4 has this random feature and is a great game

Out of the above, which has the best graphics?
    COD4

    Which has a medium-paced multiplayer?FEAR

    I add
    Which is the better?
    FEAR & HL2
