Alright guys in this thread I will be comppiling a list of games that are playable on your standard netbook. The machine I will be using will have an upgraded 2 gigs of RAM, however that evens out with Windows 7 as it requires more RAM to run smoothly. I will be using my EEE pc 1005ha, specs in the description. If you have anything to add to the thread post it and I will put it on the main list. I won't be talking about emulators but I will say that I know that from NES to Nintendo 64 run smooth on the netbook.
-------------
Plants vs. Zombies
Plays perfectly on a netbook with all settings default.
-------------
-------------
Warcraft 3
Plays Perfectly on the netbook with Med-Low settings
-------------
-------------
Diablo 2
Plays Perfectly at 30+ fps on the netbook. Very playable
-------------
-------------
Diablo 1
Obviously plays great too
-------------
-------------
VVVVVV
Runs full speed
-------------
-------------
Starcraft
Runs Smooth as ever as it's an older game
Thanks, Angelic
-------------
-------------
Halo : Combat evolved
Runs smoothly at a 30 fps cap at 800 by 600 low/med settings
Playable
-------------
Those are the only games I can think of that I have played so far on my netbook. I will be adding more soon including how GTA: San Andreas and Vice City, and Kotor 1 run on it.
Note: I will be studying this website but here it is if you want to do it yourself: gameer.com
Thanks, htwingnut

Does my Eee PC 1201N count? It's still a netbook, even though its Atom CPU is a dual core model, and it has nVidia ION graphics.
-
, nah haha this is meant for the pure netbook haha. Also none of that 4 lb Alienware netbook beast thing in this thread either haha
-
It's a 12.1" 3.1-pound computer with no optical drive based on an Atom CPU...it's a netbook, just a good one.
-
But this thread is meant for the "older" netbooks
Maybe I'll wait till I go to college later this year and I will give my 1005ha to my mom and I will buy one. But I can't afford one right now as I am building a desktop computer for my senior project and that will cost about the same price. -
Starcraft plays easily, though I don't know that FPS matter much for that title. It's smooth as always.
-
Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
Does anyone have any opinions on xp vs 7 for netbooks in terms of performance only? I couldn't care less about battery life.
I plan on experimenting with some newer games. -
Try gameeer.com. I started it a while ago but abandoned it, just too much work for no return. But there's still some good info there.
-
It's about the same. If you have 1 gig of RAM stick with XP but if you have 2 gigs and want a nicer OS get w7 -
I could play almost all of those games on a 266MHz Pentium 2 laptop with 32MB ram
-
Actually my next door neighbor's have some kids who are friends with my little brothers. They have a very old (but clean) desktop computer with no internet from maybe right when XP started coming out haha. It can run basically all emulators perfectly, VVVVVV and a lot of those games ahaha. It's awesome
I'm actually installing Counter Strike Source on my netbook as I have heard people running it at 30+ fps online which is awesome for a netbook. I will post on how it goes. -
I doubt CS:S will run 30+ fps, since Source games a quite CPU dependant. I know CS 1.6 runs well, but not so sure about CS:S. HL2 ran well on my Eee netbook but I had to use the directx 7 option, which basically makes it a year 2000 or 2001 machine.
-
yea cs:s is unplayable, I guess the video I saw, the dude overclocked the hell out of his eee pc to get it to play as well as he did.
However I have made the discovery that Halo: Combat Evolved runs surprisingly well on the eee pc -
You could try Torchlight, a Diablo like RPG as well. I believe you can toggle the graphics to "netbook" mode for it.
-
Change the title to netbook compatible games that might run on your weak laptop haha. great thread ill check out some of them
