I have ordered a Dell XPS 1530 with Intel T8300 2.4 GHz, 3G RAM, and Nvidia 8600M GT. I like playing games on console systems although my wife made me get rid of them!!! Anyways, do you have to play PC games with a mouse and keyboard? That doesn't sound fun to me at all. Any tips to help get me started would be great!
    Thanks

You don't have to play games with a keyboard and mouse, but it's pretty simple and easy to get used to it.

Mouse and keyboard is amazing if you like FPS games, or strategy. For most other game types you can use a gamepad just like a console.

I prefer keyboard on mouse for any game that i'm a person and have a gun in my hand as well as RTS TBS and MMO's. For sports game, gamepads!

It felt weird the first time I played an FPS with a keyboard and mouse about 9 years ago with Quake 2, but after a few days I got used to it and now I couldn't see myself playing an FPS any other way. Probably would've been sooner, but my comp wasn't gaming grade then and I was using high school computers to play. Oh, and shame on your wife for making you get rid of your games.

You can go pickup an Xbox 360 controller made for the PC.

You'll get absolutely ***pwned by everyone with a keyboard and mouse though.

You can read the Gaming mouse guide thread (in my signature) and checkout the Gaming mice out there.

Actually FPS games are best placed with a mouse

when you have get used to mouse and keyboard you won´t go back to any controller.

By the way your wife got rid of your consoles and yet you are allowed to buy a laptop to play on, this is hilarious.

Yes. You are "working". Anyway, you can play games like Command & Conquer (and its various spinoffs (Red Alert, Generals, etc)), Age of Empires, Rome Total War, and various other strategy games. The only games that you will actually need a mouse and keyboard for are first person shooters. But since your wife doesn't seem to approve of you playing games, you may want to just stick with the laptop's keyboard and just use an external mouse.

Or you have a wife that accepts both consoles and laptops and desktops and spending money on your car styling it ;) :) :) :)
