Because my old computer wasn't strong enough to handle it, But I have confidence in my new build(in my sig) and I would like to try it out. The question is should I buy Crysis, or Crysis:Warhead? What is the difference between the two, and which has better graphics? Or if I really need to should I buy the double pack? Are they good games in general, graphics aside? Worth 40 bucks for both of them?

Crysis Warhead has an optimized version of the CryEngine 2. So Crysis Warhead will look better.
But Crysis original game has far more value. The game itself is a lot longer. Warhead is maybe 5 hours, probably less. Can blow through Warhead really fast.
Crysis original also allows for a lot of modding with single player maps so you can keep playing Crysis.
But you can find a bundle deal with both games once in a while for cheap. But I recommend the original for more options. Also I believe the level map maker is only with the original. -
Crysis is the original. Warhead is its standalone expansion where you play a different character at different locations of the island.
Warhead has better performance because its graphics are tone down a bit, you really should buy the double pack. -
Ok I will buy the double pack on steam, the gameplay is good right, it's fun? Good story and everything? (I'm talking about crysis)
-
its the game every gamer must have or it used to be.
if you buy the double pack you should also get crysis wars multiplayer.
well worth it imo. -
Yea definitely get both. I enjoyed the first one very much and the mods are great for it. When you beat the game I recommend going back and playing it on a harder difficulty and use cheats like infinite power for suit, infinite ammo, and god mode. Because it makes you feel like you are the predator, lol.
Also, kind of off topic, does anyone know a single map or mod that lets me fly the helicopter or that one air craft? Because I know someone did a mod where in the demo you can fly a helicopter. -
EDIT: nvm it's the multiplayer for warhead -
The singleplayer story is average, it's your typical SciFi action FPS game story. But Crysis really shines in its level design and graphics (obviously), I absolutely loved the alien mothership levels, the visuals and graphics were so good in those levels, it's almost like a scifi movie.

It is possible to launch the original Crysis through Crysis Warhead (CryEngine 2).
It should give you a nice frame boost.
And if im not mistaken Crysis Wars was bundled with Crysis Warhead. -

I might be wrong, but I believe there is a 64-bit version of Crysis out there (not on Steam). Also, be weary because Steam occasionally sticks Crysis with some nasty 3rd party DRM (install limits).
Personally, I just use the demo to try and make my machine blow up. But yes, the graphics for the environment are the most realistic and beautiful I have ever seen. -

i unfortunately bought the double pack for $40 off steam. aside from the graphics which after 9 hours of gameplay i decided that putting up with the poor gameplay was not worth the visuals. not at anytime time did i feel the story to be interesting or involving. my advice is buy a good game that you will truly enjoy like bioshock or mass effect. dont want to argue with anyone about the game btw just my opinion and i wish i could get my money back

EDIT: I like the game so far but I am having a little graphical/screen porblem. I set the game to fullscreen, 1920x1080 just like all my other games but for some reason there is about 3/4ths of a black inch border around the screen for some reason. This is Crysis 1. I haven't tried warhead but all my other games use the full screen....what gives? -
I fixed the problem using the following process, I am not exactly sure what I did but it fixed it, But the issue is when I play 1076 the game looks dulled out..the colors, the graphics, they all look like they lost half their color.....I really would like to play at 1900x1080, Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try adding this to the end of the crysis shortcut:
+szx 1900 +szy 1080
This should force the game to be in your res. -
Definitely get both crysis games now that you have the hardware for it. I recently purchased the dual pack and finished crysis. All I can say is wow...I was missing out on some good graphics. Story wise, its you typical b grade sic fi movie.
-
I am playing the game highest settings 1920x1080 res in direct x9 without the border, but I don't like it as much as direct x10....but when I try to play at 10, I get the border.....*sigh* -

This makes me want to play Crysis again.... You def need the Maximum Edition. Just don't pay more than $30 for it. Gotta save up for Crysis 2. I think Crytek wants a few more GOTY awards so it should be a sweet game.

For me crysis fell apart when the absurd monsters came out of no where. It felt exactly like Far Cry, and uncharted. I just don't get why these games can't focus on a decent story with nice details. Rather than go, what sometimes seems like a last minute direction, disconnected from the rest of the game. This is why I like farcry 2! As for crysis, I would been fine with a korean invasion, secret nuclear base camp or hidden alliance with the middle east or russia/ I will admit the the aliens in Crysis are far superior and better done to the enemies in the other games i mentioned. However I was very disappointed in the final boss.
Never played crysis before
