So I already know that the best current options for a 15" gaming performance laptop are the Alienware x15 (only 8800gtx) followed by the Dell m1530 (8600gt ddr3). However, there's usually a spec refresh across the boards and it's already started a bit with Lenovo and HP, so do you think a new 15" gaming champion or contender will emerge this summer? Or maybe there's already been one announced that I don't know of, besides the Clevo I already know about that one.
My situation is that I'm buying a 15" laptop for college this fall so I have to make the purchase early on in this summer. Think there will be any new choices out by then or should I just buy the aging m1530? (The x15 is a bit pricey)

if you need to buy it now, the dell m1530 is a good choice.
keep in mind that its very likely that sometime between now and this fall, there will be a new line of mobile gpu's... so if you need it now, get it now.
if you can wait, then wait.
thats always the rule. -
Yeah, I really don't get how EVERYBODY's waiting for god damn Intel.
That's just bullcrap -
i've been wondering the same thing and im in the exact same boat as you, need a 15" but ive been waiting it out to see if the 9series are going to be available by late july early august
-
So really my question is if the new lineup will be able to fit actually BETTER cards into the 15" sizes. -
Well, Rumor has it an Asus M50 variant have been popping up on some Australian retail site with a 9600 in the spec as coming soon. Go to the Asus section for more detail.

>.> I still don't get the point to put two low end gpu's in crossfire. Wouldn't puting a single 3650 be better and use less energy?Last edited by a moderator: May 12, 2015 -
i think the peformance can be quit interesting also marketing wise selling a X2 video card will sell better

IF you can wait, then wait. Both Nvidia and ATI have announced their new GPU series, and both include the option to toggle on/off between integrated GPU and discrete GPU.
-
any proof of the 9600m in the asus? or is it completely just rumors
-
don't worry bout that 9600m asus.. wait for the G50 (asus 15.4 inch laptop with a 9700m gt)
-
~$1600 budget so i think i'll keep worrying about the 9600/9650 lol

ur a quitter -

Not sure if anything new will match up to the Alienware..That would be my first choice if I were you

With all the issues Alienware has right now with the m15x, I would recommend staying away from it. It's an awesome machine though, but paying $3,000+ and getting a lemon, no thanks!
