Just wanted you guys and gals to know that a new driver for 8x00m drivers has been released. I have been preachin about nvidia not supporting 8x00m drivers for a while now! These drivers were made on 7-11-07 and I cant help but wander if my numerous (30+) submissions to the nvidia quality assurance form helped these drivers come about. In other words, if you want nVidia to keep on supporting 8x00m drivers youd better start bothering them about it.

Im wondering, if I go to the laptop2go website, I noticed there are several things for the 8600m gs, which one do i use? Or is it just one download that will work on all those cards listed? Becuse i noticed when i went to that site a few days ago looking for the 150 update they had the 8600m gt and the 8400 gs but not the 8600m gs. Im new to driver updates...sorry

for some reason this new driver caps my 8400m gs at 275/300 clock speeds. by the way how come the "newer" drivers have a smaller number? the one you linked is 156.13 yet the one i use is 162.13.
-
Do the 162.13 drivers support vista? I thought those were XP drivers?
The 156.13 drivers swoleyK kindly posted do indead appear to be the newest Vista 32-bit drivers supporting the mobile 8x00m cards, and what's more is that they appear to actually have been designed from the ground up for these cards. It'll be interesting to hear what kind of performance these new drivers give. -
Does this driver support the 8600m GT? Because it only lists the 8600m GS.
-
Swoley don't keep us in the dark! Can they be overclocked? Do they have the overscan problem? Are they new built drivers or just refreshed old ones? I know you just posted but let us know as soon as you can.
-
Just pick any of the drivers listed there will do, isn't it?
If not, I can only use the driver 156.13 as my GPU is 8400m G? Now I'm using 158.36. -
Good post, the whole numbering of the drivers does kinda bug me though; going from 163.11s to these, it just doesnt seem right. I might download and give these a go in the morning, its kinda late here.
-
I think I just stick with the 158.36
-
They will work fine, yes, however this set of drivers appear to be the newest that were specifically designed for the 8x00 mobile GPUs. Therefore I would be inclined to suggest these as the best drivers to get for 8x00M graphics cards.

Thanks odin243! I will try it

The Forerunner Notebook Virtuoso
So are these the newest drivers that allow overclocking while retaining all their compatibility bug fixes and such?
-
Do they work with Nvidia 8600M GT? Someone asked earlier can't find the answer.
-
They should work with all current 8m series GPUs.
-
Can always try them
thanks odin

my base score of WEI improves from 3.2 to 3.3~
-
158.22 work best on the geforce 6 cards
-
