same happened to me with nvidia drivers. its the scaling with fixed aspect ratio so have to manualy change but have no idea about where it will be found in the ati control panel

if you're using version 10.x, check out this link:
GPU-68: Unable to set GPU Scaling option in ATI Catalyst? Control Center
it shows you how to change the GPU scaling. i have forgotten how to get to that setting in 11.1 though, as i haven't used it much since upgrading. the option is the same, how to get there is the only change. -

However, the options are grayed out and unchangeable, for me at least. I'd assume it's your resolution setting unless proven otherwise. -

I wish my drivers would default to aspect scaling on...
every time i change resolutions it goes back to stretch. I cant see why anybody would use anything other than aspect, it will use the full screen as long as your resolution is the correct aspect ratio.
If it was not and you had a "full screen" mode on it will distort and destroy images and graphics making them look horrible both in quality and in composition.
Anyways to make the option "ungrey" so you can change it just change your desktop resolution to one lower than native, then the scaling options become available, after you change it you can change your resolution back to native and it will stick. -
He never mentioned what his resolution was. Out of curiosity, I looked through his previous posts, and he has a GX640, so he does have a 1680x1050 16:10 display.
@ OP: scratch my previous resolution list. Make sure your game resolution is set at 1680x1050 (native), 1440x900, or 1280x800. -
