The video card in my dell inspiron e1505 laptop broke and I am now looking for a replacement. I know that I have to choose between an ATI mobility x1300, x1400 or an Nvidia Geforce Go7300. However I have only seen used ones for sale, do they sell new ones and does anyone know where I could buy one?

I don't think the video card on your laptop is removable.

You cannot simply replace a video card in a notebook. You would have to find a new motherboard which was designed specifically for the 1505 with better graphics.

I think the E1505 has a replaceable video card. you should search up on the internet or ebay.

Hi! And welcome to the NBR Forums!

I strongly suggest you read this thread for more info. Go to the thread -->

As a sum-up. You can not, i repeat, you can not replace your GPU.
I suggest you either Google your laptop and see if possible to do something or get a new one.

    Good luck!

The Dell Inspiron e1505 most likely does not have a removable GPU unlike a few other older Dell Inspiron notebooks. You'll have to look into finding a new motherboard replacement.

Although I could be wrong, cause I remember a few people replacing their X1300 with X1400. :/

EDIT: It seems you can replace the motherboard with the Dell Inspiron 6400 which also fits the E1505 and install the GPU:

Cheeseman, look directly right of the heatsink shown. The long black thing is the GPU connector.

The heatsink there is only for the CPU and chipset. There's also an empty space between the fins on the end of the heatpipe and the casing in the second picture, which is where the fins from the GPU's heatpipe goes.

    Edit: See this:

    Yes, it's replaceable.

The 6400 and the e1505 are the same computer. If you have dedicated graphics you can swap the graphics card, but if you have integrated graphics you can't upgrade (doesn't apply to you).

You can possibly contact Dell and ask to purchase a new part, dunno if they would have any but you could try..

Just purchase a cheap used one, that computer is from 2006, and lol look at ebay the card is like ~$40..

Yes it is replaceable because I already removed it. My parents are buying me the video card and my dad is very skeptical about buying a used one, as he thinks I might just be buying someone else's problem. Does anyone know if I can buy any of those three new, do they even sell those new?

I see expensive parts, but I can't seem to find new parts. Perhaps you could find someone selling the second hand parts, but with a warranty.

Still, try and email dell for the part as well.

Good to hear that it's replaceable. As stated Dell would probably be your best shot.
BTW instead of buying a GPU, have you considered buying a whole new laptop? Because a $449 Dell with integrated 4500 can outperform that X1300.

Well I'm really not gaming I just need a working computer, and I've seen some used ones on ebay for around $50. Dell didn't list any on the parts section of their site, but I'll give them a call. Thanks for everyone's help

I wouldn't worry about a used one, unless it's listed as "dead". It's not like a car that can become "somebody elses problem".

Last I heard the e1505 can accomodate the following cards:
    GeForce Go 7900GS
    Mobility Radeon x1400.

Well contact Dell about procuring a new one or if they'll install it for you. Sure it'll cost a good deal more, but it'll be a new part and it'll (hopefully) be guaranteed to work.
