Well they already have 2x 17" models at the moment, why the need for a third? (4th if you count the outdated m9750)

I already have a macbook pro but I'm bitterly disappointed with it's gaming / graphics performance. Dell is moving into aluminium/alloy body's with backlit keyboards and slot load drives (studio xps or adamo minus the drive) so it's not far fetched at all.

    *Hopes for non brick thickness!

Well I still have that feeling that it'll be based on the M980 or at least designed to compete with it. Alienware had a similar system (the mALX based on the M590Ke), but it didn't sell well because of the M9700 and M9750.

It could also be a replacement for both the M1730 and the M17x, or a silver M17 with new GPUs.

i LOL'd the m9750 is gonna die very soon ... and after the next release i know one 17 inch will be gone ....

the m17x is going to be cut and the m9750 will proably follow for more info please check out the AW section :)

a "new" m17x may just be around the corner

    I really hope not.

From what I remember reading that was a 4850x2 designed for a specific unnamed vendor....I've always guessed it would be Dell but believed it would be used in a 18.4" Studio XPS machine.

I wouldn't want to see an 18.4" AW laptop but it's definitely going to be 16:9 so either a 17.3" or 17.6" would be my choice.

By "definitely" Im saying that's where Im betting my money. ;þ

It's speculation based on the current notebook movement. 16:10 is getting phased out like 4:3.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alienware clears all its current line and comes up with a whole new line of notebooks and desktops in these 20 days.

And I hope it will be 16:10 because if it's not, I doubt I'll be buying it.
