Windows XP vs. Windows Vista Performance
For those of you skeptical of purchasing Vista because of the declination in gaming performance, look no further.
-
Less than 1% performance decline, sounds pretty good to me.
-
still need 2 gigs of fast ram, but with the right drivers, vista will run excellently.
-
People were scared for a while at the drop in performance, but that's because of beta drivers. So besides the price, Vista looks pretty good now.
-
Say thats not to bad, some of the cards actually saw a performance increase. Nice to know as I was initially not sure if Vista was any good for a gaming machine I am building right now.
-
But theres still no way i'm switching to vista. It might just be slow on my comp but the beta ran ridiculously slow for me (e.g. the recycling bin and my computer took time to respond which is annoying).
edit: actually i'll probably install vista once security updates/windows service pack 1/catalyst 7.2 comes out (because by that time drivers won't be XP optimized anymore) -
Great great, I suspected it was beta drivers that were slowing down my x1600 in Vista. Now, where to download a new version compatible with my Asus...
